HAND CRAFTED
Sedefkari (mother of pearl embroidery), is an elegant and sensual handcraft, which succeeded to keep alive in memories the historical roots of the Turkish culture founded on Ottomans and Seljuks. Sedefkar (master), engraves hard woods such as walnut, mahogany, and rose with mother of pearls after carving the wood. Lead, tin, silver and alpaca strings are used to decorate round of motives. Mother of pearl is a clamshell from fresh water. Predominantly, motives consisting of mostly natural patterns such as flowers, leaves and geometric forms shows of Rum, Baroque and Arabesque dominance. CARE
To conserve this all hand crafted piece for many years, wipe out with a couple of olive oil drops on a cotton piece, and protect from direct sunlight
