“Behind these ornate, recognizable ceramic designs are centuries of history and artisanship.

Iznik pottery originated in the Ottoman Empire, but took inspiration from Chinese blue and white porcelain. Iznik potters developed a new visual language shaped by technical daring and an almost painterly approach to clay. The ceramics are known for their vibrant color palettes and use of intense bole red, and for their intricate patterns based on the natural world.”
