Vincent van Gogh, a Dutch post-impressionist painter, is renowned for his vibrant and expressive works of art. Despite a challenging life marked by mental illness and poverty, he produced over 2,100 paintings and drawings, including 860 oil paintings. His distinct style featured bold colors and lively brushstrokes that laid the foundation for modern art. Van Gogh’s artistic journey began in his youth, initially working as an art dealer before turning to painting. Supported financially by his brother Theo, he developed his style and met fellow artists like Gauguin in Paris. Van Gogh’s works captured the beauty of landscapes and still life, particularly during his time in Arles in the south of France, where he depicted olive trees, cypresses, wheat fields, and sunflowers. However, his mental health deteriorated, and he suffered from psychotic episodes. Despite his fame after his death, he was considered crazy during his lifetime. Van Gogh’s legacy as a tormented genius and his impact on art history are still celebrated today.
