This edition of klank.ist features Zeynep Eldem, Gülce Özen Gürkan, Cedrik Fermont, Yaren Eren Budak, and Gökçe Uygun — five artists exploring sound through improvisation, noise, and texture.

ABOUT SONIC CARTOGRAPHIES:
Sonic Cartographies is an evolving performance series that began in the San Francisco Bay Area and now unfolds simultaneously in Istanbul, Berlin, and Strasbourg. Initiated by Eda Er, the series creates a shared space for dialogue and collaboration across geographies.

The Istanbul edition continues the practice of mapping sonic territories through solos, duos, trios, quartets, and tutti improvisations. Throughout this process, visual scores are exchanged between artists in different cities, creating connections across locations and weaving a collective sonic map. The program emphasizes balance, dialogue, and shifting performer constellations—bringing individual voices together into a shared sonic landscape.

In Istanbul, the series is curated by Aslı Kobaner, reflecting the city’s experimental spirit and collaborative ethos.

The first Istanbul edition continues the practice of mapping sonic territories through solos, duos,
trios, quartets, and tutti improvisations. Throughout this process, visual scores are exchanged
between artists in different cities, creating connections across locations and weaving a collective sonic map. The program emphasizes balance, dialogue, and shifting performer constellations — bringing individual voices together into a shared sonic landscape.

In Istanbul, the series is curated by Aslı Kobaner, reflecting the city’s experimental spirit and
collaborative ethos.

SONIC CARTOGRAPHIES HAKKINDA:

Sonic Cartographies

Sonic Cartographies is Klank.ist’s newest performance series, curated by Eda Er, designed to foster bi-monthly gatherings and collaborative encounters with Bay Area-based musicians and artists.
