You gather the excess clay and throw it onto the ground. They open their mouths. You do this unknowingly. Their mouths are like voids, like wounds. They multiply as they settle. You know that without void there is no passage for light, because there is gravity and grace.

🪢 GALERIST and A.R.C. (A Residence of Creation) are pleased to announce a residency collaboration rooted in the singular landscape of Cappadocia. Conceived as a site-responsive programme, the initiative invites artists to spend time within the region’s geological formations, layered history, local crafts, and atmospheres of contemplation; creating space for different forms of artistic production to emerge. Hosted by the main sponsor of A.R.C., Taşkonaklar Capadoccia in Uçhisar, the programme will welcome four invited artists each year. •

GALERIST ve A.R.C. (A Residence of Creation), Kapadokya’nın eşsiz coğrafyasından filizlenen sanatçı misafirlik programını duyurmaktan mutluluk duyar. Mekâna duyarlı bir üretim ve araştırma alanı olarak kurgulanan program, sanatçıları Kapadokya’nın jeolojik oluşumları, katmanlı tarihi, yerel zanaatları ve düşünmeye alan açan atmosferiyle bir araya getirerek; farklı üretim biçimleri için bir zemin oluşturmayı amaçlıyor. A.R.C.’ın ana sponsoru Uçhisar’daki Taşkonaklar Kapadokya’nın ev sahipliğinde gerçekleşecek program, her yıl davet edilen dört sanatçıyı ağırlayacak.

Aklına hep düşen o ilk oluş hâlleri, kitap kapaklarına dönüşüyor bir süredir. Sanki bakman gereken yerleri işaret ederek, sana doğru adım adım yaklaşıyorlar. Bu sefer biraz daha hareket etmek istiyorsun; ileri, geri, sağa, sola. İkinci bir deri, belki zaten içinde taşıdığın bir deri ile. Nasıl oluyorsa, aynı anda içlerini açıyor ve aynı anda üstlerini örtüyorsun.

Those first states of becoming that keep returning to you have, for some time now, been taking the form of book covers. As if they are approaching you step by step, pointing to where you need to look. This time, you want to move a little more: forward, backward, to the sides. Towards a second skin, perhaps one you already carry within you. Somehow, you open them up and cover them at the same time.
