-Why students should choose ?
+Antwerp is such a city for students: People speak English well and there are many festivals and activities. Transportation is easy, you can be anywhere in 20 mins and people are . Also, I don’t really like beer that much but they have some great beer. Education here is easy-going and I’m sure you won’t have any problems related to language.
- Intercity transportation is cheap for students in Belgium. Could you visit some other places?
+ Right, it’s especially cheap if you’re travelling with busses. Until now I’ve wandered within Belgium but in a near future I’ll be visiting and . Both are quite closeby, 2 hours with train and a little bit more than that with a bus.
- Do they really have some delicious waffles and chocolate?
+ Their –or as they call it, 'gauffre'- is really different and . The dough is fluffy, or crunchy if you want it that way, and relatively has more sugar than Turkish waffles. The is just perfect, try it in . If you love sweeties, you’ll love Belgium.
- What to you miss?
+ Turkish cuisine indeed! I think our cuisine is much richer. I’m so picky with what I eat and this was a struggle to be here initially. And second, the sea. I miss it so much! Living by the sea is something else.
- What to do in Antwerp if we had only two hours?
+ First, try some waffle for sure! Second, Belgium is also famous with its . They have larger ones and they’re sweet or regular. Try them with some special sauces!
- Do Belgians cycle as much as their neighbours?
+ That’s my favourite thing here to cycle! It makes everything so easy. Belgians use bikes almost as much as the Dutch! In Flemish parts, especially in Antwerp, bikes are quite common. It’s faster, there are always shortcuts for riders. It was so interesting to see people biking even under harsh weather conditions and some people carry their kids by using the basket in front of their bikes. I was surprised back then, but now I’m biking too whether it’s raining or not!
