Meet our artist Belkıs Taşkeser. ✨✨✨

Belkıs began creating visual arts between 1970 and 1973 in Istanbul. She started with illustrating children's books and then continued into fine arts with different mediums of painting and drawing.
She used to work with water-soluble colors but thickly like gouache technique and then she worked with acrylic. After years she started to paint with oil colors but she didn’t like the oily material and she didn’t like to paint on canvas. She is really interested in different kinds of papers, mostly the rough ones. When she sees a beautiful paper, she wants to work on it. She loves hand-made papers done and touched by human hands.
Her relationship to paper is inexhaustible. She likes the immediacy of works on paper and the materials she works with.
Belkıs lived in Paris for 40 years and participated in various solo and mixed exhibitions in Europe, USA and Turkey. Her works were selected to the collection of Musee D’art Naif in Paris. Her paintings mostly in gouache, ink and mixed media are in international private collections. She is currently living and creating new works in Istanbul. All her digital and paper works are curating by and she started to be represented by VedicLab in 2022.
