Donkeys were historically noted in older travel accounts of Buyukada ( Princes’ Islands in Istanbul ) as a form of casual transport or sightseeing rides up to spots like the Aya Yorgi Monastery which is on the highest hill of the Island.
The famous ceramist Şebnem inspired by this and made colourful small ceramic donkeys.
