The Motionless Horse-Lady Godiva, and the Anatomy of Collective Affliction
Once upon a time, Lady Godiva became a symbol of defiance, standing against her ruthless husband’s heavy taxation over the people with nothing but her bare body. Centuries later, as the weight of rising taxes and unbearable living costs once again bend people’s backs in today’s world, we brought this story into the present day together with Yasin Uysallar.
The horse does not move frozen mid-step, as if about to walk but trapped in stillness. This system has remained unchanged since the dawn of civilization. It may have altered in form, yet its essence persists. Civilization seems to revolve endlessly within its own orbit. On one side, there are those who, day and night, drift into weary dreams through their sickness; on the other, the tower dwellers who feed on their labor and dreams.

Bir zamanlar Lady Godiva, acımasız kocasının insanlar üzerindeki ağır vergilerine karşı çıplak bedeniyle bir direnişin sembolü olmuştu. Yüzyıllar sonra, bugün Dünya’da artan vergiler ve hayat pahalılığıyla insanların beli yeniden bükülürken, bu hikayeyi Yasin Uysallar ile günümüze taşıdık. At yürümüyor, adım atacakken donuk bir postürde. Bu sistem, medeniyetin başlangıcından beri hiç değişmedi. Belki biçim değiştirdi ama özünde hep aynı. Uygarlık sanki kendi ekseninde dönüp duruyor. Bir tarafta gece gündüz çalışıp yorgun hayalleriyle uykuya dalabilen insanlar, diğer yanda onların emek ve hayallerinden beslenen kule sakinleri.
