14 Mart’ ta davetiyle gerçekleştirdiğimiz “Sırlarda güvenlik ve artistik sır uygulamalarında pratik çözümler" çalıştayının gerçekleşmesine katkı sunan herkese kalpten teşekkür etmek isterim.
Nazik davetleri ve misaferperverlikleri için öncelikle 'nden Yeşim Çamlıoğlu’na, Çanakkale Belediyesi’ne, her zaman hammadde desteği ile yanımda olan Çinikop’a, son anda yine eksiklerimizi tamamlayan 'a, çalıştay süresince yardım ve dayanışmalarını benden esirgemeyen Çanakkale’nin kıymetli seramikçileri , ' ten İhsan Bey’e, İzmir'den asistan arkadaşım 'a ve özellikle Çanakkale’de eğitimlerini sürdüren seramik-çini öğrencilerine yine farklı şehirlerden gelerek bu paylaşım ortamını zenginleştiren tüm katılımcılarımıza gönülden teşekkürler.

Bilgiyi, deneyimi ve üretme heyecanını birlikte paylaşabildiğimiz için çok mutluyum. Yeniden yollarımız bir yerlerde kesişeceği güzel günlerde buluşmak üzere 🤍

The first work of my Ionic Bonds series, Identity, defines the connections between an individual’s inner self and others.
Rooted in the family heirloom calcite mine, carrying traces of two generations, it is the first piece that reflects my childhood and inner self.

Tümay Erman is one of the artists featured in Ceramics Now’s 15-Year Anniversary Edition.

Tümay Erman’s practice is anchored in glaze chemistry and years of research into crystalline glazes. Her sculptures draw parallels between geological change and the social pressures experienced by women in patriarchal contexts, using glaze reactions as a metaphor for forces that fracture, reinforce, or reshape. By combining porcelain, stoneware, and complex glaze formations, she creates forms that register both vulnerability and strength.

Since returning to my country Türkiye about 10 years ago, I’ve been living in my own world devoted to my making and glaze research. Though the journey hasn’t always been easy, I am deeply grateful to those who have stood by me and supported me along the way. 🤍

Ülkemize yaklaşık 10 yıl önce döndükten sonra, üretimime ve sır araştırmalarıma adanmış kendi dünyamda yaşıyorum. Yol her zaman kolay olmasa da, yanımda duran ve bana destek veren herkese minnettarım.🤍

The shapes of biomorphic-metamorphic ceramic sculptures, are inspired by allignments of molecular configurations caused by the effect of heat and pressure on the glazes covering their surfaces. Hi art lovers 🌟people who know me from my followers and people in the art community usually recognize me from my glazes. But actually, I just love experimenting to create the glaze that truly fits to each form I made . So yes, you might only know me through my glazes. Am I upset about that? Well… maybe a little. :)

I’m not bad at forming techniques either 😉in fact, I’m pretty brave , especially when it comes to large-scale works! I use the sideway coil technique, making sure the inner structure and balance of my sculptures are strong enough for cone 7 and up. I like finishing big pieces in a one piece . If I see even the tiniest crack, I go crazy! That’s why I’m meticulous, organized, and, well… a little fastidious but I’m totally fine with that. Because if something cracks or breaks, I just can’t recreate it with the same spirit and excitement. I’d rather give all my care and attention to the work from the very beginning because my ceramic sculptures represent me wherever they go 👣
