ใหม่อีหลีขอนแก่น มีความยินดีนำเสนอ เราจะถอนคำพูดไม่ได้เลยหรือ? นิทรรศการว่าด้วย ชีวิต ศิลปะ การเมือง และความตาย โดยศิลปินชาวไทย สินา วิทยวิโรจน์จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 20 มีนาคม – 7 มิถุนายน 2569 ณ จังหวัดขอนแก่น
หากประวัติศาสตร์ไม่ใช่เส้นตรงที่มุ่งไปข้างหน้าเท่านั้น แต่คือวงล้อที่หมุนวนจนกลับมาซ้ำรอยเดิมไม่รู้จบ เราจะยังเหลือหนทางใดให้เลือกเดิน?
เราจะถอนคำพูดไม่ได้เลยหรือ? คือบันทึกความทรงจำที่ถูกถักทอขึ้นจากเรื่องราวส่วนตัวอันเปราะบาง และร้อยเรียงเข้ากับบาดแผลทางสังคมอันกว้างใหญ่ไพศาล จากเด็กชายผู้มีชื่อที่ไร้ความหมาย สู่การเติบโตท่ามกลางฟองสบู่ของชนชั้นกลางที่ค่อย ๆ แตกสลาย ไปจนถึงการตื่นรู้ที่แลกมาด้วยความเจ็บปวดเมื่อเผชิญกับความตายหลากหลายรูปแบบที่เดินทางมาบรรจบกัน ณ ห้วงเวลาที่มืดมนแต่ก็สว่างไสว
ร่วมสำรวจร่องรอยของสิ่งที่ถูกชำระล้างออกไปจากหน้าประวัติศาสตร์ จนถึงสิ่งที่ถูกฝังลึกอยู่ในลิ้นชักความทรงจำ ตั้งแต่คำถามไร้เดียงสาในวัยเยาว์ มรดกตกทอดทั้งจากพ่อและแม่ ไปจนถึงแรงปะทะจากคลื่นลมทางการเมืองที่สาดซัดเข้ามาถึงภายในจิตใจ คือการเดินทางกลับไปขุดคุ้ยซากปรักหักพังของอดีต เพื่อตั้งคำถามกับปัจจุบันที่ถูกแช่แข็ง และอนาคตที่ดูเหมือนจะถูกตีตรวนไว้ในกรงขังที่มองไม่เห็น
ขอเชิญร่วมก้าวเข้ามาในพื้นที่แห่งนี้ พื้นที่ซึ่งความจริง จินตนาการ ความฝัน และภาพลวงตา "หลอมรวม" เป็นเนื้อเดียวกัน เพื่อร่วมกันค้นหาคำตอบว่า ในโลกที่บีบบังคับให้เราจำนนและหลงลืม เรายังสามารถที่จะรื้อฟื้น แก้ไข หรือ "ถอนคำพูด" ที่เราเคยพลั้งเผลอ หรือถูกบังคับให้พูดออกไป ได้หรือไม่? หรือแท้จริงแล้ว สิ่งเดียวที่เราทำได้ คือการจ้องมองความเว้าแหว่งเหล่านั้นแต่โดยดี และยอมรับความเป็นมนุษย์ที่ขาดพร่องของกันและกัน
Can’t We Recant? (เราจะถอนคำพูดไม่ได้เลยหรือ?) เคยจัดแสดงครั้งแรกที่ Kinjai Contemporary กรุงเทพมหานคร และจะดำเนินต่อไปในรูปแบบนิทรรศการเดินทาง หลังจากการจัดแสดงที่ MAIELIE จังหวัดขอนแก่น นิทรรศการจะเดินทางต่อไปจัดแสดงที่ MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ในช่วงปลายปี 2569

MAIELIE is pleased to present Can't We Recant?: an Exhibition of Life, Art, Politics, and Death, a solo exhibition by Thai artist Sina Wittayawiroj, on view from 20 March to 7 June 2026 in Khon Kaen.
If history is not merely a linear progression but a wheel turning endlessly back upon itself, what choices remain for us to make?
This exhibition serves as a memoir woven from fragile personal stories stitched into the vast wounds of society. From a boy with a meaningless name to a coming-of-age within a middle-class bubble that slowly disintegrates, and an awakening purchased with pain, where various forms of death converge at the darkest moment of his own era.
Explore the traces of what has been cleansed from the pages of history and buried deep within the drawers of memory. From the innocent questions of childhood and the legacies, both visible and invisible, inherited from parents, to the political turbulence crashing onto the shores of the psyche. This is a journey back to excavate the ruins of the past, to question a frozen present and a future that seems fettered within an invisible cage.
We invite you to step into this space, a space where reality, imagination, dreams, and illusions "merge" into one. Together, let us seek the answer: In a world that compels us to surrender and forget, is it still possible to reclaim, rectify, or "recant" the words we once uttered by mistake or were forced to say? Or, in truth, is the only option left to gaze steadfastly into those voids and accept the flawed humanity in one another.
Can't We Recant?: was first presented at Kinjai Contemporary in Bangkok and will continue its journey as a travelling exhibition. Following its presentation at MAIELIE in Khon Kaen, the exhibition will travel to MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum in Chiang Mai at the end of 2026.
