D&B Animal unleashed in Thailand Legend has it, a creature was born in the darkness of a Brighton nightclub.

After sharpening its claws on a trio of 1210s, it escaped its basement captivity, leaving a trail of mauled dancefloors across Europe. They say you will know it by its razor sharp scratches and brutal bass growls. Wherever there is drum and bass carnage, they say it has been. n, having caught glimpses, through the ruckus of flailing limbs, fog and strobe, of something behind the decks that seemed not quite human. In Thailand, too, there have been rumblings. Junglists have been found wandering the streets at dawn in a cold sweat, eyes glazed, muttering warnings of a savage beast unleashed on the dancefloor. Some say that these are just the unhinged ravings of unhinged ravers, but older, wiser heads are beginning to suspect that somewhere in Bangkok’s underground, there lurks some kind of DJ Animal.

Hua Hin Ravetrip - WHO's WITH ME???

If you know Bangkok's D&B scene, you know Irie - in it's Ekamai and Khao San incarnations, Irie was the site of many Thai people's first D&B experience, and the only venue in a city of 17 million where you could count on hearing drum & bass. I miss it, and I miss the founders, DJ Orawan & BradRoc. But I'm also incredibly happy for them and their success.

It's been a year since they moved to Hua Hin and opened the latest incarnation of Irie - and nothing can keep me away from celebrating that with them.

So... join us? 'nuff ravers = bus, BKK to HH and back. Hit me up if you're thinking about coming. Familiar faces and new - all welcome and the more the merrier.

And you know that Irie knows how to put on a party!

A basic DnB snare in Serum 2 from traffic noise along Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok. More to add and change when I integrate it into a drumkit and eventually a track, but with a bit of tuning and sweetspot hunting I reckon it can work!

If not, at least I learned something in my experiments. Local sounds, real sound design and no presets or AI - it might take longer, but it’s waaay more fun
