Takuro Kotaka

Takuro Kotaka is an artist who conducts fieldwork in socially divided regions, creating moving-image works that move between documentary and fiction.
Since 2017, he has made intermittent visits to Thailand’s Deep South, where he has built long-term relationships with local artists through exhibitions and research initiatives.
In recent years, Kotaka has also expanded his practice as a curator, introducing and supporting emerging artists both in Japan and internationally.
His work centers on themes such as censorship, restrictions on expression, and the various forms of division embedded in contemporary society.
In 2017, he participated in the Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Program of Overseas Study for Emerging Artists, and in 2019, he received a grant from the Pola Art Foundation.
For this project, He participates as a guest curator, not as an artist.
ทาคุโระ โกทะกะ เป็นศิลปินที่ทำงานภาคสนามในพื้นที่ที่มีความขัดแย้งและการแบ่งแยกทางสังคม โดยสร้างสรรค์ผลงานภาพเคลื่อนไหวที่เคลื่อนไปมาระหว่างสารคดีและเรื่องแต่ง
ตั้งแต่ปี 2017 เขาได้เดินทางลงพื้นที่ภาคใต้ตอนล่างของประเทศไทยอย่างต่อเนื่อง และได้สร้างความสัมพันธ์ระยะยาวกับศิลปินท้องถิ่นผ่านการจัดนิทรรศการและโครงการวิจัยต่าง ๆ
ในช่วงไม่กี่ปีที่ผ่านมา ทาคุโระ ยังได้ขยายบทบาทการทำงานสู่การเป็นภัณฑารักษ์ โดยทำงานในการแนะนำและสนับสนุนศิลปินรุ่นใหม่ทั้งในประเทศญี่ปุ่นและต่างประเทศ
ผลงานของเขามุ่งเน้นประเด็นเกี่ยวกับการเซ็นเซอร์ ข้อจำกัดด้านเสรีภาพในการแสดงออก และรูปแบบต่าง ๆ ของการแบ่งแยกที่ฝังอยู่ในสังคมร่วมสมัย
ในปี 2017 เขาได้รับคัดเลือกเข้าร่วมโครงการศึกษาวิจัยต่างประเทศสำหรับศิลปินรุ่นใหม่ของสำนักงานกิจการวัฒนธรรมแห่งประเทศญี่ปุ่น และในปี 2019 ได้รับทุนสนับสนุนจาก Pola Art Foundation
สำหรับโครงการนี้ เขาเข้าร่วมในฐานะภัณฑารักษ์รับเชิญ มิใช่ในฐานะศิลปิน
