3rd generation diaspora kids
3rd culture kids…
The ones reaping the benifits and traumas of their grandparents migration story

Carrying the left over letters & spices from abroad
The hand written visas, passes, & birth certifcates
that changed our course

We are muddled between 3 worlds
The sacred past that was left behind by our grandparents

The hazey present that is was gift to your parents

The future with the heaviest question - to return our stay

A lot of our stories are packed in luggages in deep in basements
Caught on cannon & polaroid
Gently fading
Full of holes

The connection to the family yard only whispered in late night tales
& fragmented songs

You know that its up to you to document & update
the tree, but this time w/ technology.

For if you dont - the connection might end w/ you.

You see this world is so mixed up, because we never stoped moving
loving & creating
no matter where we nested

This generation simply gained a deep breath to reflect on which direction
our ancestors ran,

so we may simply walk
…maybe back home again.

I don’t know but,
I’m scared to forget my Aunty’s patios inflection
Or the smell of the beach from window of a road taxi
How to get home from the market without internet

And that comes with spending time, sharing images, telling stories
Most importantly always finding curiosity in kin.

No matter what old stories they might be connected to.
Look for your cousins, half siblings, & distant relative.

I know I’ll be the Artist Aunty living between her Jamaican Bungalow, European Apartment, & Cali
Nook.

Because theres a piece of my family in all these places…
& I guess I’m (we) here to be the connection
to the past, present, & future

BTS + story behind the shots
I wanted to visually depict an artist, manager, dreamer’s dialogue

Each following their own flow, saying a lot - or nothing at all.

Later realizing they are all the same person…

The details of their styling w/ Jordan
Dreamer: homebody, sweats, rollers, cozy
Artist: colorful, layered, a likkle messy, heaphones
Manager: crisp, funky, sleek, focused

As Creatives, we are constantly having inner dialogues
between the Artistic Director, Accountant, Producer, & Dreamer… 
I wanted to visually depict how all of those characters might interact at, or on their way to the mini mart.

A common space all of us gather no matter who you are…
