Exhibition：
This Moment, The Other Shore: A Dialogue Between Homeland and Host Land

of

Aaron Wang, MFA Visual Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University
and Zoe Zhao

Exhibition Introduction：
This exhibition presents a series of works created through a figurative expressionist approach, forming a personal narrative that moves beyond geographical boundaries. Through fragments of everyday life in Chiang Mai, the artists place the memories of Chinese families within the time and space of a host land. The works explore how “life,” as an ongoing and fluid story, continues with resilience through change.
The paintings on view are traces of time shaped by years lived away from homeland. Here, memory is not a still image of the past, but a living force that renews itself through shifting places and moments. Viewers are invited to step into this personal narrative and experience how memory, under the warm sun of the host land, transforms from a distant echo into a shared resonance.

You are pleased and invited to an art exhibition of MFA Visual Arts student; Dom Zhou titled “The Good Path”. It is a video-based installation composed of a core video, real-time generated visuals, and physical outputs that together form a continuously running system.

The work presents contemporary society as a disciplinary mechanism in operation. In this system, life becomes data, choice becomes risk, and deviation becomes error.

Alongside the exhibition, I also created a companion website as an additional entry point into the work. Each visitor can enter the system and receive a specific exhibition ID.

ผ่าน ประติมากรรมพระพุทธเจ้าผู้จะเสด็จมาในอนาคต และ แผนที่เย็บปักของผู้ไร้รัฐ นิทรรศการนี้ติดตามเส้นทางคู่ขนานของศรัทธาและการพลัดถิ่น ทั้งสองศิลปินชวนผู้ชมตั้งคำถามว่า — เราจะจินตนาการถึงอนาคตได้อย่างไร เมื่อปัจจุบันยังคงไม่สมบูรณ์

“Before the Future” brings together two artists whose works contemplate belief, identity, and temporality in Northern Thailand.
Through sculptural visions of the Future Buddha and stitched cartographies of stateless lives, the exhibition traces parallel paths of faith and displacement. Both artists ask: How do we imagine tomorrow when the present remains unresolved?
Between sacred time and human geography, “Before the Future” becomes a space of waiting, remembering, and quietly remapping what it means to belong.
