Ana Golović

I have a Bachelor's degree in Painting at Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad, as well as a Master's degree in Theory of Art and Media in Belgrade. During my Art Practice I have gained invaluable knowledge and experience, which has considerably formed me as an artist. The subjects of my research are usually inspired by the situations and events I have experienced myself. My work includes nudes, portraits, self-portraits, animals, nature, that is to say everything I encounter and perceive in everyday life. I have always felt a deep connection with nature, having grown up at the seaside and being physically active and energetic.

I put the greatest emphasis on portraits, as well as nudes, especially in the recent period. I mainly find inspiration in the people I meet and live with, but base some of them on my own imagination, so one can recognize themselves in them, or it could be a portrait of someone I am yet to meet in another part of the world. Portraits and nudes can represent the artist’s expression more clearly, from the expressive tone that sometimes the distribute the form with fast movements, to the array of bright colours forming a dreamlike, surreal train of thought.

Dealing with human figure, I find it very important to become acquainted with new cultures and arts and exchange experiences, while travelling and working with artists of similar interests and styles. The series of paintings I am working on at the moment contains nudes in calmer colours, but with the emphasis on the current state and feelings of sorrow and exhaustion. With expressive movements in pastel colours, a human figure on large format is my greatest inspiration, as well as the language of my artistic expression.
