Becoming Home เปิดฉายรอบปฐมทัศน์ที่โรงภาพยนตร์ลิโด้ คอนเน็คเมื่อวานนี้ พร้อมแลกเปลี่ยนประเด็นว่าด้วยความหลากหลายของผู้คนในสังคมไทยระหว่างนักแสดง ทีมผู้กำกับ และผู้ชม
ภาพยนตร์สารคดี Becoming Home ถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวของเยาวชนไร้รัฐไร้สัญชาติผู้เกิดและเติบโตในประเทศไทย ผู้เผชิญปัญหาเดิม ๆ ซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่า และต้องใช้ความพยายามนับครั้งไม่ถ้วนที่จะได้มาซึ่งสัญชาติ ไปจนถึงแรงบันดาลใจที่ทำให้พวกเขาทั้งหกอยากพาไม่เพียงแค่ตัวเอง แต่รวมถึงเพื่อนร่วมชะตากรรมให้หลุดพ้นจากวงเวียนนี้
#ภาพยนตร์จบงานยังไม่จบ #ปัญหาของคนไร้สัญชาติก็เช่นกัน
“I find my way...to get back home”เมื่อเรื่องราวบนหน้าจอสิ้นสุดลง ซาวนด์แทรกในภาพยนตร์ที่บรรเลงสดโดยศิลปิน View From The Bus Tour ก็เริ่มต้นขึ้น ตามด้วยการพูดคุยแลกเปลี่ยนกับทีมผู้กำกับและบุคคลในสารคดีทั้งหก
แสงส่าได้เปรียบเทียบสิ่งที่เธอต้องเผชิญในฐานะคนไร้สัญชาติว่า “ถ้าเป็นความรักมันคือการอกหักจนชิน เจ็บซ้ำ ๆ ถึงจะมีการแก้ปัญหาบ้างแต่ก็มีเงื่อนไข มีคำว่า ‘แต่’ ตลอดเลย แล้วมันคือการแก้ปัญหาตรงไหน”
ด้านปติภาร นาหลงอีกหนึ่งบุคคลในสารคดีที่ปัจจุบันได้รับสัญชาติแล้ว แบ่งปันความรู้สึกว่า “ชีวิตตอนไร้สถานะมันเคว้ง ไม่รู้เลยว่าจะเดินไปได้ไกลแค่ไหน มันมีเส้นทาง แต่เส้นทางก็มีกำแพง”
ปัญหาที่พวกเขาถ่ายทอดในสารคดียังคงเกิดขึ้นซ้ำ ๆ ตั้งแต่เรื่องการศึกษา ข้อจำกัดการรับทุน การเข้าถึงแหล่งเงินกู้เพื่อเรียนต่อในระดับที่สูงขั้น การรักษาพยาบาล ไปจนถึงการถูกแสวงประโยชน์จากกระบวนการพิสูจน์สัญชาติ แม้แต่การเดินทางจากเชียงใหม่สู่กรุงเทพฯ เพื่อเข้าร่วมงานในครั้งนี้ แทบทุกคนต้องดำเนินกระบวนการผ่านการอนุมัติหลายขั้นตอน ยังไม่นับรวมความกังวลใจว่าจะได้รับการตอบรับแบบไหน ทุกอย่างจะเป็นไปได้ราบรื่นหรือไม่
หลายต่อหลายครั้งพวกเขาพยายามพิสูจน์ตัวเอง พยายามถีบตัวเองให้สูงขึ้น หาพื้นที่ในการส่งเสียงปัญหาของตัวเอง โดยหวังว่านั่นจะนำทางไปสู่สถานะ ความเป็นธรรม การได้รับการปฏิบัติที่ไม่ต่างไปจากคนอื่น
#การยอมรับความแตกต่างในสังคมไทย
การไม่ได้รับความยอมรับจากคนในสังคมเป็นอีกปัญหาที่คนไร้รัฐไร้สัญชาติต้องพบเจอ โดยประเด็นนี้เป็นประเด็นที่ผู้เข้าร่วมงานเห็นร่วมกัน ปัญหาเรื่องการไม่ยอมรับความแตกต่างไม่ได้จำกัดแค่ในกลุ่มคนไร้สัญชาติเท่านั้น แต่ยังรวมถึงเรื่องเพศ ศาสนา และความคิดเห็นทางการเมืองด้วย
ผู้ชมท่านหนึ่งได้แลกเปลี่ยนว่าสาเหตุที่การไม่ยอมรับความหลากหลาย การแบ่งเขาแบ่งเรามีอยู่อย่างค่อนข้างแพร่หลายในสังคมไทยอาจย้อนกลับไปได้ถึงกระบวนการสร้างรัฐชาติที่พยายามทำให้ความหลากหลายกลายเป็นหนึ่ง มีการกำหนดว่าหากจะเป็นคนไทยต้องมีคุณสมบัติอะไรบ้าง ซึ่งนั่นเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นในการกำหนดค่านิยม บรรทัดฐาน และอุดมการณ์ของสังคม และเมื่อมีใครแตกต่างไปจากคุณสมบัติเหล่านั้น บางครั้งพวกเขาก็ไม่ได้รับการปฏิบัติ หรือไม่ได้รับสวัสดิการจากรัฐอย่างเท่าเทียม ซึ่งนับเป็นความท้าทายว่าจะทำอย่างไรให้ปัญหานี้หมดไป
ผู้กำกับภาพยนตร์สารคดี คุณยศธร ไตรยศ หวังว่าภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้จะเป็นเครื่องมือช่วยส่งเสียงให้ผู้คนตระหนักถึงการมีอยู่ของคนไร้สัญชาติ เปิดพื้นที่สนทนาเพื่อลดอคติ และสร้างการปฏิบัติต่อกันอย่างเท่าเทียม ตลอดจนเคารพในสิทธิเสรีภาพ รวมถึงศักดิ์ศรีความเป็นมนุษย์ของทุกคน

Becoming Home premiere event held at Lido ConnectTheatre yesterday followed by a discussion with casts, crews and audiences
The documentary, presented by UNDP Thailand with the support from the European Union and Realframe production, narrates life stories of six young stateless who were born and/or raised in Thailand. They repeatedly face the same old problems. They strive hard to retrieve citizenship. Yet, amid legal conditions and social prejudice, they support one another with their simple hopes that one day they
will be treated equally as fellow human beings.
“I find my way...to get back home,” the live soundtrack from View From The Bus Tour marked the beginning of the talk session of the cast and crew.
Saengsa compared what she had to face as a stateless person with love that "If it's love, it's like you have had your heart broken so many times. It hurts repeatedly. Even though there seems to be an improvement, it always comes with conditions. There is always the word 'but'. So how can this really be the solution?"
Patiphan Nalong who has just been granted Thai citizenship shared his feeling. “Having no legal status was adrift. I didn’t know how far I could walk. Though there were paths, we could run into dead ends or walls at any time.”
Problems shown in the documentary, be it education, traveling, health, are recurring incidents. The youths elaborated how their stateless status affected their education life. How they face limitations in receiving scholarships, access to student loans, and healthcare. And how they are at risk of being exploited. Even traveling from Chiang Mai to Bangkok to join this event, most of them had to go through a complicated process, not to mention the anxiety they had to cope with awaiting the approval.
Being the otherness in this society is one of the challenges for stateless people. However, the issue of not accepting differences is not limited to stateless people but also those who have different gender, religion, and political opinions from the majority.
The reason why intolerance to differences is quite common in Thai society is explained by an audience who said that it has something to do with the national building process. She said that to be Thai, a person needs some specific qualifications which later determine society’s values and norms. Thus, when anyone is different from that standard or the dominant groups, they are often not eligible to receive equal treatment and welfare from the State. This is the challenge for Thai society to eradicate this matter.
The director of the documentary, Yostorn Triyos hoped that this film will serve as a voice to raise the awareness of the general public on the existence of the stateless people and as a platform to encourage discussion. Additionally, he hoped that it can mitigate bias while promoting equal treatment and mutual respect for rights, freedom, and dignity as fellow human beings.
