my project illustrates the effects of environmental problems caused by humans. Our ignorance and lack of awareness about waste disposal— the waste from individuals, houses, and industries—impacts water bodies. Waste disposed into rivers finally ends up in the ocean which later causes marine litter crisis. It not only affects tourism, but also destroys the marine ecosystem which results in the decline or extinction of some marine life. Unavoidably, human life will be negatively affected from their own ignorance.
I chose to create my work on a wall, kindly supported by a fishing equipment shop, near Bang Kruai canal in order to present inefficient waste disposal management that stems from the overwhelming quantity of plastic containers produced just to satisfy consumers’ convenience. I would like to send this message to and raise awareness of related local communities and others who engage with any activities that cause water pollution.
Apart from my work on the wall, a nearby deserted area, which was once a car wash business that has been deteriorating with a lot of waste as a result of the flood crisis in 2011 giving the landscape a decadent mood, is also a part of my art project.
