Our blacksmith made his own flat jaw tongs because he did not have enough for his daily works. He picked rusty rebar to make it and he told that while the iron is a poor conductor of heat, an orange heat is approximately 1800º F, the blacksmith must have a way of holding the heated metal without burning himself.
