Fun Fact!

Our theme song is King Porter Stomp. Jelly Roll Morton wrote it around 1905 and named it after his pianist friend Porter King, just flipped backwards. It sat as a piano tune for 30 years until Benny Goodman's band played it at the Palomar Ballroom in 1935 and the crowd went off. A lot of people mark that night as the start of the Swing Era!

Fun Fact 2
Our motto "Lose your self control" is a lyric joke. It comes from "I Like Pie, I Like Cake," which has a line saying "when I see your Jelly Roll, I lose my self control"

หนึ่งในการค้นพบที่น่าสนใจที่สุดของประวัติศาสตร์สำหรับชาวเต้น Swing Dance ที่ไทย!

คลิปภาพยนตร์จากราวปี พ.ศ. 2473 (ค.ศ. 1930) นี้อาจเป็นหนึ่งในหลักฐานภาพเคลื่อนไหวแรกๆที่แสดงให้เห็น “ท่าเต้นสไตล์ Charleston” ในประเทศไทย

ที่ผ่านมาเรารู้กันอยู่แล้วว่าในช่วงยุค Jazz Age นั้นดนตรีแจ๊ส แผ่นเสียง วัฒนธรรมบอลรูม และความบันเทิงตะวันตกเริ่มเข้ามาในสยามแล้ว…

แต่เราไม่เคยมีภาพหลักฐานชัดๆเลยว่าการเต้น Charleston เดินทางมาถึงสยามด้วยหรือเปล่า

แต่ในคลิปเก่าอายุเกือบ 100 ปีนี้ กลับมีคนเต้น Charleston (หรือท่าเต้นที่คล้าย) ถูกผสมเข้าไปกับดนตรีและการแสดงจำอวดแบบไทย

ซึ่งนี่ถือว่าน่าสนใจมากในเชิงประวัติศาสตร์

ตัวฟิล์มเองก็สำคัญมากเช่นกัน เพราะเป็นผลงานบันทึกการแสดงของ นายทิ้ง มาฬมงคล และ นายอบ บุญติด โดยพี่น้องวสุวัต ซึ่งถือเป็นหนึ่งในหลักฐานภาพยนตร์ยุคแรกๆ!

ไม่ว่าจะผ่านไปเกือบร้อยปี ก็ไม่น่าเชื่อว่ายังเต้นและสนุ�
