Our friends at officially unveiled their newly renovated space The Foyer, a beautiful performance space that will be home to The Foyer Series of showcases and more.

This facelift was one of the first interventions by the newly appointed Board of Directors, and was designed by . This initiative was sponsored by .

We’re taking Umthilane to Vuvulane!

If you missed an opportunity to witness this explosive dance form, most common in the Southern part of Eswatini, here is your chance!

Our goal was to showcase the dance in urban and rural cultural spaces and celebrate it in diverse communities and the was the most ideal as it is an iconic space that celebrates art and culture in all its unique forms.

The Goethe Institut, Germany’s Cultural Instituit invites artists who are interested in developing their skilled in proposal writing and project management. This workshop is in connection with the Goethe Project Space (GPS) Grant - designed to support artists and their projects outside urban centers of South Africa, Eswatini & Lesotho.

Topics to be covered include:
• How To Write A Compeling Project Proposal
• How to Structure Resources To Extend The Lifespan of a Project
• The Fundamentals of Project Management
• Mitigating Risk and Increasing Project Impact

SPELL 2024 Day 2 is here! And here’s everything you need to know about today’s schedule.

Registration will begin at 9:30am, so get to Yini Loku early to get a front row seat to all the SPELL activities. You will get to learn from and connect with authors and publishers from Eswatini and Mozambique, as well as other literature enthusiasts.

Let’s gather and cast a spell on the future of African literature. Let our stories be told in our authentic voices. We can’t wait to hear yours!

Our schedule is running until 5pm.
Entrance is FREE!
📍Yini Loku is located in Mbabane, in the old Cinelux Building, Opposite the Mbabane Magistrate Gate.

Introducing SPELL 2024 panelist - educator, editor, publisher and Managing Director of Imisebe Publishing - Hlobsile Stromvig!

Hlobsile boats of 30 years as an educator, including a remarkable 20 year tenure in educational publishing. This experience a broad understanding of the educational landscape in Eswatini and to also recognize the immense potential for collaboration within the publishing industry.

Imisebe launched the ground breaking siSwati monolingual dictionary in 2021; the first of its kind in the kingdom of Eswatini. Imisebe is the first Swati owned Publishing House, and has taken big strides in promoting and preserving siSwati language and culture.

Introducing SPELL panelist Tenele Habangaan, a new-to-the-scene children’s book author!

Tenele is a vibrant storytelling, her book series, “Lulu na Luba,” celebrates African children and their indigenous languages, fostering literacy and imagination. With relatable characters inspired by her own kids, Tenele’s tales are filled with adventure, curiosity, and empowering messages about diversity and the power of language.

Tenele will be speaking this Saturday, September 21st from 13:00 - 13:30.
