🛑 BREAKING: President Salva Kiir Ranked Africa’s Most Dismissive Leader Over 37 Top Officials Sacked in Less Than a Year
Juba, South Sudan – November 13, 2025
South Sudan’s “solution-seeking” president, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has been ranked by TRT Africa News as the first and likely the last African president to sack more than 37 senior state officials within a single year — including vice presidents, a chief justice, ministers, and army generals.
The latest to face Kiir’s dismissal is Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, who was relieved from his position as Vice President for Economic Cluster on Wednesday.
Since December 2024, not a single month has passed without President Kiir removing a high-ranking official from office. In several instances, dismissals have come just days or weeks after appointments.
Analysts say the frequent reshuffles reflect deep instability within the government and a tightening grip on power by the presidency.
