While you’re painting one face…
maybe you’re calming a shy child who doesn’t know if they trust you yet or you’re making someone’s first ever face painting experience something they’ll remember.

You’re talking to parents, answering questions, smiling. You’re taking payments, thinking about time, keeping the queue moving.
You’re hearing parents asking “what design do you want?” for the 50th time although the child already chose it. 😂You’re staying polite even when your energy is already low because there was no break for hours. Sometimes you’re even listening to people’s problems while holding a brush. (I soo wanted to validate a mom’s feelings but she was just talking to a friend🙈).

So if you ever see a face painter completely exhausted after a weekend of events…
it’s not just because of the painting.

It’s because we give so much more than that.
We leave our energy there, in every interaction, in every little moment.

This job is people skills, energy, presence, patience.

Important - Please read!

When you book a face painter, do you actually check what products are in their kit, or do you just assume they’re all compliant?

Most people assume that all face painters paints are safe, the hygiene is good, and that the person knows exactly what they’re doing. Because in most people’s minds, it’s “just face paint.”

But if we’re being honest, you probably haven’t actually asked them what products are being put on your child’s skin.

You haven’t asked if the paints are compliant, how brushes and sponges are cleaned between each face, or what training that person has. You’ve just trusted it’s fine.

And sometimes it is.

But sometimes, it really isn’t.

And unless you know what you’re looking for, you wouldn’t spot the difference until it’s too late. That’s the bit people don’t like to think about.

Because this isn’t paint on paper. It’s not just a party extra. It’s paint on skin. Your child’s precious skin.

So when you book “just a face painter”, what you’re actually doing is taking a bit of a gamble with your child’s safety. No checks, no questions, just trust.

Now here’s the alternative.

When you book a professional face painter, it isn’t a gamble. You’re getting safe, compliant products, proper hygiene every single time, experience painting on skin, and someone who understands exactly what products should and shouldn’t go anywhere near skin.

Because this really isn’t about how well someone can paint a tiger or a unicorn. It’s whether they should be painting on skin at all.

🙅🏻‍♀️Nobody likes being told No, but I will always uphold this one rule and I’m happy to explain why.

🤒 As a parent I’m all too familiar with kids picking up all sorts of coughs and sneezes, bugs and germs and I get it life happens. We want to try and carry on as normal so they don’t miss out on fun activities.

👩🏻‍🎨 But as a professional face painter who upholds the high standards of hygiene and safety you should expect from my industry, a child who sits in my chair showing any sign of communicable illness or infection is an instant No.

🤧 Why? Because one of my core principles is that I will do everything within my power to reduce risk of cross contamination while I work to protect the children I face paint, but also as a self employed artist it is impossible for me to continue working at parties and events if I am constantly unwell myself.

🙏🏻So please, don’t be offended if I refuse to paint your child. The chances are I will have a sticker ,a lolliepop or a spare piece of bling I can gift them, and together we can make sure face painting remains safe and fun for everyone.
