Open letter to Massive Attack.
Beyond the nice "Free Palestine" slogan, which has been very trendy lately, I believe we must look at events with a critical eye and, above all, intellectual honesty.
There are many, far too many grey areas on both sides, and unfortunately—as sad as it is to admit—both factions share the blame. Hamas, just like Israel, uses violence and oppression as its preferred language.
Those who are truly blameless are the ultimate innocents: children. Children do not carry a flag or a banner to parade around because they are pure. It is therefore a true abomination that both sides try to indoctrinate their children to program them for hatred. This is the most shameful part: forcing children into that horrible adult game that is war.
So, dear Massive Attack, try to think about it: it's easier to pick a side and self-righteously proclaim yourselves to be the good and righteous ones! It is much harder, however, to start calling out the massive collusive deal that sees all the forces involved in these conflicts drastically kneeling before the only true dominant empire on the planet: economic interest and the logic of exploitation.
Are you free artists? Are you really? Then, instead of remaining within the system, try to push against it. Reclaim your independence and abandon easy slogans.
Do it... if you're capable of it!
