Appointment as Film Ambassador – UK and Spain
It is with great pleasure that I, Director Aiah Momoh, President of the Sierra Leone Film Council (SLFC), officially appoint you as the Film Ambassador of the Sierra Leone Film Council to the United Kingdom and Spain, with immediate effect.
This appointment comes in recognition of your unwavering commitment to the promotion of Sierra Leonean arts and culture, your leadership qualities, and your ability to build meaningful international networks that will enhance the visibility of our nation’s film industry.
The Sierra Leone Film Council (SLFC) was established as the umbrella body for the country’s film industry, bringing together filmmakers, producers, actors, and creative professionals under one unified organization. Its mission is to strengthen governance, promote professionalism, and create opportunities for Sierra Leonean cinema to thrive locally and internationally.
The SLFC has played a key role in advocating for industry regulation, supporting training and collaboration, and enhancing the visibility of Sierra Leone’s creative talents on the global stage. Although recent reports suggest internal restructuring and leadership challenges, the Council remains a symbol of the nation’s commitment to using film as a tool for cultural expression, economic growth, and national unity.
As Ambassador, your duties shall include:
1. Representing the Sierra Leone Film Council in all film-related matters within the United Kingdom and Spain.
2. Promoting collaborations between Sierra Leonean filmmakers and international production houses, investors, and film festivals.
3. Strengthening cultural and creative partnerships between Sierra Leone and the host countries.
4. Identifying opportunities for co-productions, funding, training, and distribution for Sierra Leonean films.
5. Serving as a liaison between the Sierra Leone Film Council and Sierra Leonean filmmakers in the diaspora.
6. Upholding the image, integrity, and objectives of the Council at all times.
