2026: The Year of the Comeback

New Year Message from Dr. Alhaji K. Tarawally, the Founder and CEO of the LAKE Group of Companies.

My Fellow Sierra Leoneans and Creative Family,

As the clock strikes midnight from my residence here in Silicon Valley, California, bridging the distance to the dawn of a new year back home, I am filled with immense reflection and gratitude. On behalf of the Board, Executive Management, and the incredible team at the LAKE Group of Companies, I wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2026.

For 15 years, the LAKE Group has been more than a business; it has been a labor of love. What began as a simple vision at the Fourah Bay College campus in 2009 has been built, brick by brick, into an empire of seven subsidiary companies. This journey has been my greatest teacher. We have navigated storms, faced betrayals, and endured setbacks that might have shattered others. Yet, we remain standing—stronger than before—because our belief in the power of our culture and our people is unshakable.

It has been said that "when LAKE sleeps, the entertainment industry sleeps." 2025 was indeed a year of quiet preparation. But let it be known: rest is not an ending; it is fuel.

We are back.

PUBLIC APOLOGY AND RETRACTION OF DEFAMATORY STATEMENTS AGAINST MS. ESTHER Y. KAMARA

The Board of Directors of the LAKE Group—acting as the parent body for Miss Freetown SL Limited, National Entertainment Awards SL Limited, National Music Awards SL Limited, National Music Festival Limited, and Miss Mano River Beauty Pageant SL Limited—wishes to address the publication made on the 17th day of March, 2025 regarding our former Executive Director of MFBP SL Limited, Ms. Esmara.

LAKE Group Management at the subsidiary level (Miss Freetown SL Limited) made decisions regarding Ms. Kamara’s employment based on initial audit reports. These actions were taken without following the due process of the LAKE Group of Companies SL Limited’s central leadership.

Once these matters reached the parent company, the LAKE Group Board launched a thorough internal investigation to uncover the truth. We are pleased to announce that Ms. Esther Yeanoh Kamara has been completely vindicated of all alleged wrongdoings.

Key Internal Findings & Resolution:

▪ Ms. Esther Yeanoh Kamara is Innocent:
Our investigation confirms that Ms. Esther Yeanoh Kamara did not embezzle funds. She has been fully cleared of all accusations regarding the 2024 Miss Freetown Beauty Pageant finances. We sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding and the distress this caused her and her family and we accept full responsibility for the publication and dissemination.

▪ We hereby formally retract in its entirety the defamatory publication of 17th day of March 2025 against Ms. Esther Yeanoh Kamara, whether directly or indirectly, across all platforms. We confirm that all such posts have been removed and we have taken steps to ensure that no further publication or republication occurs.

▪ A Win-Win
Settlement: Both parties have agreed to put the past behind them. All court cases will be withdrawn, and we are moving forward in a spirit of unity.

▪ Moving Forward
The LAKE Group, which over the last 15 years dedicated itself to uplifting young Sierra Leoneans and transforming the entertainment industry through our CEO, believes that talents must be protected and due process must be respected at all times. Esther is one of the staff members we are most proud of, and her six years of service speak for themselves. She is a professional of integrity and competence, and we sincerely regret the damage cause to her reputation, brand and person by the said publication.
To demonstrate our goodwill and restore her good name, the Board have directed the following:

▪ Compensation: Ms. Kamara has been granted a 5% shareholder stake in Miss Freetown SL Limited.

▪ New Leadership Role: Ms. Kamara has been reinstated not only as staff but also as a Board Member in charge of Operations at Miss Freetown SL Limited. She will work alongside Esther Moi Tarawallie (Executive Director) to ensure the success of Sierra Leone’s biggest beauty pageant.

We are delighted to welcome Ms. Esther Yeanoh Kamara back home after almost a year of recess. This settlement represents a fresh start and a shared commitment to the growth of the Miss Freetown brand SL Limited.

This decision allows the company to dedicate its full resources to celebrating its 15th anniversary in December 2025. The rescheduled events include the Miss Freetown Beauty Pageant, National Entertainment Awards (NEA), National Music Awards (NMA), National Music Festival (NMF), and the Miss Mano River International Beauty Pageant.

Founded in 2010 by Dr. Alhaji K. Tarawally (Laj-K), the LAKE Group has become an entertainment powerhouse pivotal in elevating Sierra Leone’s cultural profile. Over the past 15 years, the company has produced high-profile events that have left a lasting impact, including the 2021 Africa Music Festival featuring global star Kizz Daniel and the 2018 National Music Festival headlined by Emmerson, Arkman, and Morris.
