The Western Filmmakers Association (WFA) is pleased to announce our strong support for the recent engagement led by the Minister of Communications, which aims to foster significant reforms within our cherished film industry. This pivotal milestone underscores our collective commitment to rebranding and revitalizing our artistic landscape.

The involvement of youth in filmmaking is paramount to our mission, reflecting our shared passion for the craft. We prioritize the protection and empowerment of women and children within our industry, firmly believing that their values are of utmost importance.

At this critical juncture, we urge the Sierra Leone Film Council, the Sierra Leone Film Guild, and all registered organizations within our filmmaking community to embrace a spirit of collaboration and openness to change. It is vital that we prioritize the collective interests of our industry above individual pursuits.

Together, we can initiate meaningful change. Our willingness to adapt proves our dedication to cultivating a thriving film community. By establishing a unified regulatory body, we can transform our craft into a viable career path for passionate and aspiring filmmakers.

We encourage all change agents and members of the Western Filmmakers Association to remain engaged as further information will be shared in due course.

Together, we can build a stronger and more inclusive film industry for all.
