Herzliche Einladung zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung am Dienstag, 2. Juni 2026, um 19 Uhr.

Izvor Pende, geboren 1976 in Zagreb, ist ein kroatischer Künstler und zählt heute zu den prägenden Positionen der zeitgenössischen Malerei seines Landes. Zunächst studierte er an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Zagreb, bevor er von 1998 bis 2002 sein Studium an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf fortsetzte. Dort war er Schüler von Professorin Rissa und wurde zum Meisterschüler ernannt. Nach seinem Abschluss kehrte Pende 2005 nach Kroatien zurück.

Im Zentrum von Pendes künstlerischer Praxis steht die Malerei als Denk- und Erkenntnisprozess. „Painting is a way of thinking for me, the construction process of the painting depicts the artist’s thought process” (Izvor Pende). Für ihn entsteht ein Bild nicht aus einer festgelegten Idee heraus, sondern entwickelt sich im Verlauf eines malerischen Prozesses. Motive und formale Elemente tauchen in unbekannten Konstellationen wieder auf und werden immer wieder neu in eine Komposition überführt. (Text: Lela Mellinger)

Kadyrova Zhanna | La Biennale di Venezia

Where to see the Security Guarantees project in Venice? This year, the Ukrainian Pavilion’s exhibition takes place in two locations:

📍Location 1: Giardini della Biennale
The Origami Deer sculpture will be hung from a truck-mounted crane in the Giardini della Biennale.

📍Location 2: Arsenale
The second part of the exhibition will be presented in the Arsenale. It will feature archival materials related to the Budapest Memorandum, as well as video documentation of the sculpture's evacuation and its journey to Venice.
