This year's 21st EX PONTO upgrades its contemporary cultural missionary in the area of content, actuality and specificity of the main international theatre programme, further it supplements its programme by introduction of a documentary movie, it opens new geographical cooperation areas and discloses new programmes and success on foundations of many years networking within its international cultur
al connections. Although we are recognisable and throughout focused into the future, we follow contemporary theatre contents and cultural guidelines in general. Due to our search of bridging new activity, connecting of artists and culture, we have an excellent and recognized status abroad, while our parental environment rarely notices, understands the meaning and supports that kind of international activity and worthy projects while persistently closes its borders and oppresses its wide available chances into a small can, which will be increasingly difficult to open, even hardly to look into it. Instead of looking into the future, we are forced to look in the past. So the EX PONTO festival, despite its recognized European status and newly set bridges, we can compare its current position again with its beginnings twenty years ago, when we were faced with similar existential dilemmas, the meaning of our existence, activity and were thinking about another environment, that would accept and support us better. If we, in searching the mirror of the presence and metaphor for the position of the culture and successful projects in our society, go further to the past and mythology, we encounter the most enigmatic Nordic god – god of the bridges, Heimdall – the son of nine mothers, who were also sisters.
