Emerging in 1988 from the need to revitalise Slovenian cultural heritage sites with live culture, Imago Sloveniae Foundation nowadays connects more than 20 Slovenian municipalities and towns. A cultural network dedicated to decentralization, it oversees and annually organizes over 100 concerts, as well as many other cultural events, by renowned Slovenian and foreign artists. The institution has a
strong international outreach with a special emphasis on intercultural dialogue, encouraging and hosting artist exchanges with festivals abroad. Particular attention is given to support and inclusion of talented young musicians, offering networking help and scholarships. Annually, Imago Sloveniae organizes several classical, jazz and ethno music international festivals and concert cycles: Imago Sloveniae International Festival, Summer in Old Ljubljana Town, Nights in Old Ljubljana Town, Jazz Stage, Young Talents and Winter in Old Ljubljana Town International Cycle. It also proudly hosts the International Interdisciplinary Symposium which brings together experts and researchers from all over the globe, opening space for panels, lectures and discussions on ethnomusicology, sociology, folklore, sound studies and other related fields. Thus, all events are traditionally admission free. The project has enjoyed immense success with the audiences, yearly drawing in tens of thousands of spectators.
