Ljubljana tango Festival was born on March 31st 2005 as a natural and very passionate upgrade of our organisations, creatings, and our tango school on the young small tango scene in Ljubljana.

Last year was a special anniversary: ​​teenage 19 is maybe more important number than 20 (which will be a rounded and important celebration of the mature Ljubljana Festival in 2026). It is the year of the last teenage exuberance, playfulness, the feeling that 'anything is possible', that the world is a playground of endless possibilities...

- It was 2019 (the year of the 14th festival, in high puberty 😉, when I called Mateja Juvan. We met in March, we3, Primož, Mateja and I immediately hit it off - kindred spirits - and together we embarked on an unusual planning of tango events in Ljubljana. Mateja runs the most beautiful tango space, Moj Korak, which, with our synergy, also became home to the festival. The most lively space.

- It was 19th festival when we synergistically spun ideas and energies with you, dear Marea Tauber and your Young team. We feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to experience the old-school feelings of a noble humane community.

- and our youngsters, co-creators of a festival, were teenagers: Julija 19 years old, Jurij 17.

We create the festival with love, dedication, and awareness. Together with you we elevate it into a ritual that brings joy to life in 4 days and nights.
The greatest compliment for us is when you expressed your gratitude this year with the words “Ljubljana Festival is so friendly”. Your words about unexpected peace, harmony, and satisfaction are the most beautiful possible reward for our efforts.
