My name is Sašo Kompare and I am a freelance artist based in Ajdovscina. I predominantly work with glass in my own studio. As a self-taught artist, I have followed my own path both technically and artistically. I have tested and developed various cold and hot glass processing techniques and developed my own processes with exciting results. Flat glass, relief, three-dimensional shapes, colors and l
ight offer a vast number of creative possibilities. The structures and textures created by nature and traces of human life and living from the Alps through the stunning Karst region to the Adriatic sea are an endless source of inspiration. With a selection of specific techniques, combining transparent and opal glass, I create both abstract, fantasy works, and also variations and collections of applied arts objects. In addition to my work with glass, I have recently been involved in photography. For me, photography is firstly about capturing moments, ideas, events, and processes. The next area is photographing products as a way of presenting my works. Lastly, photography is becoming an upgrade of my work in glass. The common thread of my experimental photography are definitely original glass products, which I use as parts of compositions. Sometimes these are temporary art installations, a kind of collages that only remain permanent in photographs." CV
Sašo Kompare born in Postojna, Slovenia, 1960
1980: Completed primary and secondary education in Ajdovščina, and went on to study architecture at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
1991: Began working with glass, creating applied arts objects and architectural elements using Tiffany and classical stained-glass techniques.
1994: Began using glass fusing, again creating applied arts objects and architectural elements.
1996: Works evaluated as applied art products of outstanding merit by the Slovenian Chamber of Crafts.
1996 onwards: Various group and solo exhibitions. The main focus of his work remains technical development and discovering new methods which he then successfully incorporates into his work.

Sašo Kompare ustvarja predvsem s steklom kot svobodnjak v svojem studiu.Kot samouk že od leta 1991 išče lastne poti, tako tehnično kot likovno. Preizkušal in razvijal je številne tehnike hladne in tople obdelave stekla ter razvil nekaj svojih postopkov z vznemirljivimi rezultati. Ravno steklo, relief, tridimenzionalne oblike ter barve in svetloba omogočajo neizmerne ustvarjalne možnosti. Strukture in teksture, ki jih ustvarja narava ter sledi življenja in bivanja od Alp preko osupljivega Krasa do Jadranskega morja so neizčrpen vir navdiha. Z izborom specifične tehnike, kombinacij transparentnega in opalnega stekla ustvarja abstraktna, fantazijska dela,variacije ter kolekcije na področju uporabnih umetnosti. V zadnjem obdobju se ukvarjam tudi s fotografijo. Fotografiranje je zae najprej beleženje. trenutkov, idej, dogodkov in procesov. Naslednje področje je fotografiranje izdelkov kot predstavitev mojega dela. Nazadnje postaja fotografiranje nadgradnja ustvarjanja v steklu . Rdeča nit moje eksperimentalne fotografije so vsekakor izvirni izdelki iz stekla, ki jih uporabim kot dele kompozicij. Večkrat so ti kolaži začasna postavitev, trajno ostanejo zabeleženi le na fotografijah. BIO

1996 je moje izdelke iz zlitega stekla komisija pri Obrtni zbornici ocenila za vrhunske izdelke uporabne umetnosti
Od leta 1996 sem imel nekaj manjših skupinskih in samostojnih razstav, zadnjo leta 2000. Vsa ta leta sem se predvsem posvečal tehničnemu razvoju in odkrivanju novih metod, s katerimi zadovoljivo izdelujem svoje številne zamisli.
