Everything Is Art began as an art blog. Today, it has become an art enrichment centre run by the dynamic mother-daughter duo, Joni Toh and Stephanie Jennifer. They are Certified Zentangle Teachers (CZTs) based in Singapore. Using Everything Is Art as a platform, they hope to inspire people to learn and appreciate art, and help Singapore's art scene to grow. She’s a beauty - with her deckled edges, made out of cotton rag. I knew I had to use some water-based medium for colours. So I chose Magicals Pigment Powders. I love all of the shifts in colours that I get from their dye inks.

What’d you think - Was it a good idea to add colours to this piece?

The Chinese stamp was made by and reads, “一壶温酒入喉随你浪迹天涯” which translates to, “one flask of wine and I’m ready to roam the ends of the world with you.” 🍶🌏🩶💛

Corporate workshops are always a joy to teach because I get to share my love of the Zentangle method with so many different kinds of people. 💖✨ And it’s always magical to see how different everyone’s artworks turn out, even though they were all given the exact same instructions.

I added some Zentangle patterns around it, and because the paper is deckle-edged pure cotton rag paper, I’m thinking of adding some colours to the outside background! 💖✨

The weather has been warm here in Singapore. ☀️ And my days have been busy, but there will be a break in the horizon, so I shall preserve until then.

I drew on one of the wooden frames I got from Sweetwater Cats ( )! I used Sakura Micron pens, graphite pencil for shading, and a white Uniball Signo Broad white pen for details. 💖✨ This was so much fun.

Pottery explorations with .sg and .uas
It’s been almost a year since I last was in a pottery studio… So I’ve lost most of my skills, but the teachers at Clayable were so kind and patient and knowledgable! 🪴 It’s going to take about two months for the pieces to be fired in the kiln - pottery is such a slow art form where you really have to be okay with outcomes in the process, at every step. 💖 This was a nice activity to do during my term break.

Sweetwater Cats creates handcrafted wooden frames designed specifically for Zentangle® artists. They currently have frames for regular, Bijou, and Zendala tiles. And I hear that they’ll soon be expanding their selection to include Apprentice, Phi, and 5xPhives tiles!

Thank you for all of your responses for my showcase at the NAFA Open House. From the silly skibidi answers, to the thoughtful ones that spoke about being a voice for the forgotten or unheard… I had a number of meaningful conversations, too, with people who visited my booth. Like one person who said she was visiting Singapore specifically for the arts scene - I had never thought about Singapore that way, and it really brought a new perspective to me. (Shoutout to Art Week!)

For me, art is connection, collaboration, and community. That is at the heart of all that I do. And this little showcase really brought forth good feelings and reminded me of the shared connection we all have as Creatives.

What do you see?

I see a pool with my reflection in it. 💧✨ Initially, this was a large square tile, that I added a circle of watercolours to. I then added a ring of tangles around it, and drew an aura around the whole thing… and I liked the shape so much that I thought to cut it out. ✂️
