USKSG Jan 2026 sketchwalk at Chinatown! 🐴

It’s been such a long time since I last joined a sketchwalk. I was so happy to see everyone again and I really missed the vibes 🥹

This year, I decided to try something a little different — capturing small thumbnail sketches of the Chinese New Year atmosphere around Chinatown. I did some planning at home the day before, just to make sure my mind wouldn’t go blank when I arrived. I also timed everything carefully, knowing that I’m a slow sketcher 😅

I started sketching around 8am and wrapped up at about 12 noon. The sketches captured scenes from the wet market, shops selling CNY decorations, a store with adorable horse plushie keychains, the front view of 珍珠坊, a pasar malam selling cookies, and finally the horse decoration opposite Chinatown Point where the show-and-tell took place.

It was incredibly fulfilling to complete 6 sketches within 4 hours. ✨

Urban Sketchers Singapore Vol. 3

Flipping through these A5 sketchbooks brings back so many fond memories. When I first began urban sketching years ago, it took me about 3 to 4 hours to complete a sketch on location—and I was often dissatisfied with the results. But I kept going, experimenting with different styles from fellow sketchers, trying out various mediums, and practicing relentlessly. All of that shaped my style into what it is today.

Robertson Walk used to be one of the drinking/chilling place with my friends. It’s quite a nostalgic place. Happy to sketch the place since it’s going to be redeveloping very soon.

First sketchwalk of 2025 at Chinatown. Sketched the fish stores at the wet market, something that I have been wanting to sketch. Unfortunately I only did the line work on location and painted at home.

AMERIGO VESPUCCI, the world’s most beautiful ship currently docked in Singapore untill 28 Oct 2024 ⛴️ 🇮🇹🇸🇬

Fortunate to get close to the ship at 5pm yesterday, and did a quick sketch on location. I completed the sketch with some Posca markers, which just nice I brought along those essential colours.

Aug 2024 Sketchwalk x Mapletree Business City

YOLO sketch with Muji Grey Pen directly on the sketchbook without pencil. I love how the grey pen acts like a pencil line work; not too light and not too dark. It also trains me to sketch quickly. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to complete the painting on location, so I painted it at home.
