“12 Seasons” brings together an exceptional group of distinguished artists from Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea and Vietnam, each contributing a lifetime of artistic achievement, knowledge and experience to this landmark production. As artists, educators, choreographers, mentors and cultural leaders, they have shaped the performing arts landscape across Asia and beyond through their dedication, creativity and leadership.

For Dr Danny Tan, this gathering represents decades of friendship, collaboration and shared artistic journeys. His friendship with Ms Lin Ya Wen spans more than 30 years. He welcomed Mr Park Ho Bin to Singapore through previous artistic exchanges in 2002 and 2003, and brought Mr Shin Yong Gu to Singapore twice under DanzINC Festival. Ms Phan Thi Thuc Linh has also been a valued artistic partner through years of regional engagement and cultural exchange. These relationships have been built through mutual trust, respect and a shared commitment to the advancement of the arts.

All five lead artists are above the age of 50, bringing with them rich lived experiences, memories, aspirations and artistic wisdom. Together with ODT Music Ensemble and 25 homegrown elderly performers, “12 Seasons” celebrates friendship, multicultural appreciation and the power of the performing arts to connect people across generations and cultures.

We mark International Dance Day with a story of courage, resilience and return. Dr Danny Tan’s journey through injury and recovery reflects a deep commitment to the art of dance, where discipline and purpose continue even through moments of uncertainty and challenge.

Despite setbacks, pain and the demands of recovery, the decision to return to movement remained clear. This journey speaks to the strength required in dance and life, where perseverance, conviction and belief guide the path forward. Through this experience, dance becomes a reflection of endurance and the will to rise again.

As Dr Danny prepares to dance once more, “Fracture to Fire” stands as a reminder that the courage to continue defines the journey. On this International Dance Day, we honour the spirit of resilience that drives every artist to keep moving forward.
