The Crescendosā€™ journey started in July 2016 at the Orientale Concentus IX International Choral Festival. Consisting of singers from the NYP Voice Ensemble, this was the groupā€™s first foray into the international choral arena, competing with outstanding choirs in Asia, and they clinched a Silver Award in the Ensemble Category of the competition. In the same year, The Crescendos continued their jou

rney as a group in various school and community projects. The Crescendos appeared in the National Day Observation Ceremony on 8th August 2016, jointly organized by the Yio Chu Kang Peopleā€™s Association. In September, they were featured as a guest choir in NYP Voice Ensembleā€™s concert - Thank You For the Music, where they showcased their versatility in a range of repertoire from different eras and continents. To end off the year on a high note, The Crescendos caroled at Capella Singapore, Sentosa during the Christmas Day lunch to spread good wishes to the diners. The Crescendos aspires to bring good choral music of diverse genres and cultures to people. To do so, they opened their doors this year to other young adults with the same amount of love and dedication for choral music to come together and join in the quest for good music-making. The Crescendos has since doubled in numbers and had the privilege to work with Vox Camerata as a guest choir in their Concert - Collegia Musica: SerĆ©ne at the Armenian Church in June 2017. Next year, the group wishes to develop individual musicianship and technique and continue to explore the many facets of choral music under the tutelage of Mr Benedict Goh. Ceremonies help us mark who we have been and who we are becoming. And in the hush of December a different ceremony callsā€”one shaped not by milestones, but by music: a Ceremony of Carols.

Benjamin Brittenā€™s A Ceremony of Carols offers a musical celebration of Christmas through beautiful choral arrangements. Composed in 1942, this piece brings together medieval texts and Brittenā€™s signature style to create a timeless reflection of the holiday spirit. It showcases dazzling harmonies with sparkling harp lines (played on the piano by our fabulous Jessie Chua), fiery rhythms, and moments of pure stillness. Itā€™s Christmas music thatā€™s bold, beautiful, and wonderfully imaginative, and we canā€™t wait to share the full journey with you.

Adding to the magic, weā€™re joined by two angelic and talented soloists ā€” Cadence Sng and Clarissa Wee ā€” whose voices bring an extra shimmer to the evening.

And because no Christmas concert is complete without tradition, weā€™ve sprinkled in some familiar carols to warm the heartā€¦ plus a singalong at the end, because Christmas joy is best when shared.
