一对一艺术课程：见证ASD学生的惊人成长
1-to-1 Art Lessons: An ASD Student's Incredible Growth Through Art

This A2 artwork took only two sessions to complete, but the journey behind it took much longer.

This brave 7-year-old special needs student created a large-format painting filled with animals drawn entirely from his imagination, without any references.

The two photos at the top tell his story—one shows his drawing before joining my classes, while the other shows torn paper from earlier sessions when emotions became overwhelming.

As a teacher and a mother of a child with ASD, I believe trust comes before learning. Through personalised 1-to-1 lessons, patience, and consistency, he gradually built confidence, focus, and trust.

Today, I see not only artistic growth, but also courage, resilience, and self-belief. ❤️

这幅A2作品虽然只用了两堂课完成，但背后的成长之路却走了更久。

这位7岁的特殊学习需求学生，凭着自己的想象力，在没有任何参考图的情况下，创作出充满动物世界的大型画作。

左上角两张照片记录了他的成长历程：一张是上课前的绘画作品，另一张则是早期课堂中因情绪波动而撕碎的纸张。

身为艺术老师，也是一位ASD孩子的妈妈，我深信「先建立信任，再开始学习」。透过一对一课程、耐心陪伴与持续引导，他逐渐建立了专注力、自信心和安全感。

From a small sketch to a giant artwork!
每一件精彩作品，都始于勇敢踏出的第一步。

This Primary 2 student transformed his family cycling journey across Singapore into a large-format artwork inspired by the skyline views he observed along the way.

Creating artwork at this scale takes focus, patience, and perseverance—qualities that even many adults find challenging. Beyond art skills, he built confidence, concentration, and a strong sense of achievement while spending less time on screens.

这位小二学生利用假期，把与家人骑行游览新加坡的回忆创作成一幅大型画作，并以观察到的城市为灵感完成作品。

完成如此大幅的作品并不容易，需要专注力、耐心和坚持。除了提升绘画技巧，他也在创作过程中建立了自信心、专注力和满满的成就感，同时减少了对电子产品的依赖。

Looking back at our 2025 Holiday Programmes, one of the things I treasure most is seeing children become more confident as they create.

Every programme was different, but the goal remained the same: to provide a safe space for exploration, imagination, and self-expression.

From painting and mixed media to creative storytelling and hands-on projects, the children reminded me that art is not about perfection — it is about discovery.

A Space for Growth, Expression & Care

Hi, I’m Wendy Cheok, founder of Visual Xplorer.

Before this, I was a design director in global branding agencies. I’m also a mother of three, including a son with ASD and ADHD — experiences that deeply shaped how I see and teach art today.

Visual Xplorer is an intentionally small, home-based art studio in Singapore.

Yes, I teach children art — but it is not a typical, result-driven class.

I believe art can help individuals build confidence, express emotions, regulate feelings, and slowly discover their own voice.

I work across four areas:

Small-group sessions focused on confidence, creativity and personalised guidance

🌷 Special needs individuals
1-to-1 sessions paced with care, patience and emotional safety

Therapeutic and mindful art experiences for grounding and self-connection

I intentionally keep my sessions small because growth is not about scale — it is about attention, trust and presence.

This School Holiday, Give Your Child More Than Just Art. Less screen time, more creativity, focus and confidence.

At Visual Xplorer, children explore art through hands-on projects like giant A2 Lion City artworks and collage pop art — learning to think, express and enjoy the creative process.

Many students later received school or national art recognition, yet my classes are never result-driven. When children enjoy art, confidence and growth often come naturally.

Creative Wellness Workshop for International Women’s Day

Yesterday I had the joy of facilitating a therapeutic art workshop, “Connect With Your Inner Guide”, organised by Authentic Women Asia as a pre-celebration of International Women's Day at Orchard Central.

The room was filled with beautiful energy as women gathered to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with their inner voice through intuitive art-making.

It was a deeply meaningful session — filled with sharing, laughter, and moments of self-discovery. Grateful to witness such a supportive and empowering circle of women.

Art can be a gentle yet powerful tool for reflection, connection, and empowerment.

I look forward to bringing similar creative wellness workshops to more communities and organisations. If you’re planning a wellness event or women’s programme, I would love to collaborate.

I had an inspiring coaching session with Vincent lately. It was my first time exploring goal-setting through metaFox cards, and the experience was so fresh, meaningful, and eye-opening. The cards opened up new perspectives, and our conversation flowed in such an organic way.

We also brainstormed how to combine my therapeutic art with his coaching using metaFox cards for our upcoming 2026 workshop, crafted especially for individuals who want to set powerful, aligned goals for the new year.

Feeling excited for what’s coming — can’t wait to bring this creative + psychological approach to more people in 2026!
