When a holiday becomes a collection of happy memories…
好久不见，再见也不是结束。

My former student EZ 5+yo has just returned home after a happy three-week art reunion with me. This time, he enjoyed a free-and-easy holiday art programme, choosing whatever he wanted to create. 艺术不一定要从“要画什么”开始，有时候，从“我经历了什么”开始，就已经很美了。

His four sessions became a little art diary of his Singapore holiday 🇸🇬✨
Zoo — inspired by his family visit
Hollow Squirrel — from his imagination
Pokémon — something he enjoyed watching at home
2-in-1 Duck Tour — inspired by his outing with his parents

I loved seeing how naturally he brought his experiences, interests and imagination into his art. It wasn't about making the “perfect” artwork — simply remembering, imagining, choosing and creating.

Before leaving, he happily told me, “I will come back!” 🥹

这四堂课，就像是EZ的新加坡假期艺术日记。
我很喜欢看到他把生活中的经历、兴趣和想象，自然而然地带进画里。

Some students come back… because they missed you 🥹

This summer, my former student EZ came back to Singapore and asked his mum to book 3 weeks of art sessions with me because he missed our classes.

He had stopped lessons last year because of an urgent surgery and had to return to his home country to stay with his grandma. This time, he joined a totally free-and-easy programme — he chose what he wanted to draw, create and explore.

Honestly, I was more touched by why he came back than by what he created.

Sometimes, we don't realise how much a little time, patience and creativity can mean to a child.

好久不见，欢迎回来。❤️

Perhaps the artwork doesn't stay forever, but the feeling of being understood and enjoying something together might.

Sometimes, We Paint for the Heart.
有时候，我们画画，不只是为了作品。

On 18 July, I spent a peaceful morning painting at Clarke Quay alongside some of my former students.

It wasn't about winning a competition. It was about slowing down, enjoying nature, encouraging one another, and reconnecting with a wonderful art community.

In today's fast-paced world, where many adults face career uncertainties and young people experience academic pressure, art offers us something precious—a chance to pause, breathe and simply enjoy the present moment.

Sometimes, all we need is fresh air, a paintbrush, and good company.

Thank you, Singapore Watercolour Society (SWS) for organising another inspiring event.

7月18日，我来到克拉码头，与几位曾经教过的学生一起写生。这一天，不是为了比赛，而是为了放慢脚步、亲近大自然、彼此鼓励，也享受与艺术社群相聚的时光。

在这个节奏快速的时代，许多成年人面对职业发展的不确定性，年轻人也承受着学业压力。而艺术，给了我们一个难得的机会——停下来、深呼吸，享受当下。

有时候，我们需要的，只是清晨的新鲜空气、一支画笔，以及一群热爱艺术的人。

Every Great Artist Starts with One Brave Step.

I'm so proud to have submitted my students' artworks to the 18th SWS National Junior Watercolour Competition 2026. This year, the competition received a record-breaking 1,405 entries, making it more inspiring and competitive than ever!

For me, the biggest achievement isn't winning—it's having the courage to participate, learn and grow through every painting.

Well done to all the young artists. Keep creating and keep believing in yourselves!

很开心今年为学生报名参加 第18届 SWS 全国少年水彩画比赛。
今年赛事共收到 1,405 份作品，创下历年来最高纪录，竞争非常激烈！对我来说，参赛的意义不只是比赛，而是培养孩子的勇气、自信和创造力。

In this holiday programme, our young artists began by
illustrating a familiar breakfast in 2D—observing
shapes, colours, composition, light and shadow while
expressing their own ideas. In Part 2, they transformed
their artwork into a 3D clay model, turning a flat
drawing into a tangible creation.
在这次假期课程中，孩子们先观察自己熟悉的早餐，用绘
画方式完成 2D 平面创作，学习构图、色彩、光影与细节观
察。接着，他们再把自己的画作转换成 3D 黏土模型，亲手
把平面的创意变成立体作品。

This process mirrors how many creative industries
work:
✏️ Sketch草图 → 💡 Concept构思 → 🧩 Prototype原型
→ 🏗️ Final Product成品

Whether it's architecture, industrial design, product
development or brand identity, every great creation
starts with an idea on paper. 无论是建筑设计、工业设计

🇸🇬 Celebrating Racial Harmony Day through Art. 种族和谐日｜艺术，不只是画画。

At Visual Xplorer, we believe art is more than creating beautiful pictures.
These two 6-year-old students were given the same theme — Singapore's Racial Harmony Day. Yet their artworks turned out completely different. They included Chinese, Malay and Indian communities, together with the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands and our Singapore skyline, each expressing their own ideas, composition and perspective.

There wasn't a "correct" answer. Through one artwork, children practise far more than drawing:
✨ Observation
✨ Creative thinking
✨ Storytelling
✨ Spatial awareness
✨ Confidence in expressing ideas
✨ Respect and appreciation for different cultures

Art is not simply about aesthetics.
It nurtures creativity, empathy and critical thinking—skills that support learning across many areas, including STEM.

Every child has a unique voice.
Our role is not to make their artworks look the same, but to help them discover their own.

在 Visual Xplorer，我们相信艺术不只是画出漂亮的作品。
这两位6岁的小朋友，以同样的主题——新加坡种族和谐日进行创作。虽然主题相同，但作品却完全不同。
他们画出了华人、马来人、印度人，也加入了鱼尾狮、滨海湾金沙和新加坡天际线，并用自己的方式安排构图和表达故事。

艺术没有标准答案。在创作过程中，孩子学习的不只是绘画技巧，更培养了：

✨ 创意思维
✨ 表达能力
✨ 空间概念
✨ 自信心
✨ 尊重与欣赏不同文化

We customised our workshop into a 45-minute Bear Character Design Workshop, allowing every child to personalise their own bear and proudly bring home a colourful keepsake.

A mindful pause in the middle of a busy workday.

On 22 June 2026, I had the opportunity to facilitate a Sound Meditation & Chair Yoga session together with Rendy from Synite Training for the corporate team at Fullerton Fund Management as part of their Lunch & Learn programme.

In just one hour, we stepped away from the usual pace of work — creating a moment to pause, breathe, reconnect with the body, and become more present.

Through the combination of singing bowl sound meditation, grounding practices, and mindful chair movement, participants were invited to slow down and listen — not only to the sound, but also to themselves.

Thank you Rendy and Synite Training for the collaboration and trust.
Grateful to bring creative wellness experiences into the workplace and support more people in finding moments of balance amidst their busy days.
