Years ago, before Jpop and anime were as alive as they are today, the term "toki doki" was used by the Japanese when they wished to express the feeling of one's heart "racing". True, "tokidoki" may in this context appear to mean "time and again" which is still the present day meaning of the word, but it also doubled as the presumed sound effect of one's heart beating. The sentence would then have
two meanings! "My heart beats a little faster" and "My heart makes this toki doki sound." Of course, over the many years and the fact that the Japanese language is ever-growing and new slang terms always being made, the popular familiar term for one's heart beating has become "Doki doki", a little more comical and gender-neutral compared to its predecessor. We here at Toki Doki Cafe hope that you'll have a wonderful time at our cafe, enjoy the food, and interact with all our maids and butlers! Don't forget to look at the merchandise before you leave! Toki Doki Meido Sh*tsuji Cafe is a part of the Japanese Arts Fiesta II (JAF2), an initiative by Dunman High School (Yutaka Japanese Cultural Club). Now in it's 2nd year of running, Japanese Arts Fiesta II is a charity event promote Japanese culture by bringing in different aspects that make Japan a country lush with culture and introduce them to Singapore. Not only will this help Singaporeans to gain insights into other cultures, it will also allow them to establish a deeper understanding of the cosmopolitan community that Singapore thrives in.

Toki Doki Meido Sh*tsuji Cafe is a part of the Japanese Arts Fiesta (JAF), an initiative by Dunman High School (Anime, Comics & Gaming Club/Japanese Culture Club). JAF is a brand new Japanese culture-themed charity event in collaboration with the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) that will consist of many activities that will help to educate the public about the traditional as well as the pop/sub culture of the Japanese society.
