SING Men's Chorus

SING Men's Chorus Join us if you love singing with a community of fun-loving guys! Practices were nomadic at first, held in various members' apartments each week.

Sing Men's Chorus, formerly called Singapore Men's Chorus, was formed in 2005 to provide an avenue for those interested in male chorale and present another form of choral music for the public to enjoy. After a first round of auditions in March 2005, the Singapore Men's Chorus was born with 11 members. Today, SMC has grown to more than 30 members and has proper venues for practices. We hail from all walks of life, and from very different musical backgrounds. For some of us, SMC is the first training ground, with guidance given by not just the choral director but fellow members as well.

🎭 SAME PHRASE. DIFFERENT EMOTIONS. 🎭

We put our Tenor 2s to the ultimate test: the Tone Challenge!

They had to deliver the exact same line, but make it theatrical enough to claim the Throne. 👑✨

From pure cutesy to absolute captivating, these pairs did not hold back. 🎬😂

What colour is love? 🎨✨

For us, it’s the quiet dark of night, the bright light of day, the grit of the forest floor, and the open waters where we finally found our collective voice. It’s in the hours of rehearsal, the solitary dinners made sweet by shared memories, and the harmony we build together.

The Sing Men’s Chorus proudly presents "Colours of Love" — a musical journey charting the vibrant hues of life, love, and connection. All the hours we’ve poured into these songs will be made completely worthwhile when we see you in the audience!

🌈 Music has a way of finding us before we find the words.

At Pink Dot SG this year, The Rainbow Jukebox by Sing! Men's Chorus invited visitors to explore the songs that have comforted, inspired and united generations of our LGBTQ+ community.

Along the way, we asked one simple question:
"Why do you sing?"

Your answers were heartfelt, honest and deeply human.
💙 "Music builds a bridge."
💙 "It makes me feel human."
💙 "The stage is where I feel free."
💙 "It helps me process my emotions."
💙 "They can't take it away from me."
💙 "I sing because I want more reasons to be happy."

These reflections—together with many others—inspired this original song. In fact, you'll hear some of your words woven almost verbatim into the lyrics, preserving the authenticity and heart of the voices shared with us that day.

To everyone who visited our booth, shared your story, sang with us, danced with us, or simply took a quiet moment to reflect—thank you. Every Post-it, every conversation and every voice helped shape this project. Your voices became part of this song.

This piece was created as a one-off community art project using AI as a creative tool to weave together the stories shared with us at Pink Dot. While AI helped transform those reflections into music, the heart, message and many of the lyrics came directly from our community.

Sing! Men's Chorus remains deeply grateful for the many talented composers, lyricists, arrangers and musicians we've had the privilege of collaborating with over the years. This project celebrates a different form of storytelling and does not diminish our continued commitment to commissioning, supporting and creating original music with artists now and in the future.

Because music has always been more than entertainment.
It comforts us when we're hurting.
It gives us courage when we're afraid.
It reminds us that we're never truly alone.
This is why we sing. ❤️🎶🌈

Our hearts are with our friends, who were victims of a violent homophobic attack in Brussels while attending the Various Voices Choir festival.

Many members of our Sing! Men's Chorus family had the privilege of sharing the stage with them during last year's Hand in Hand Choral Festival in Singapore. To know them is to know kindness, generosity, laughter and a deep belief in the power of music to bring people together. It is heartbreaking that such love was met with hate.

As we reflect on the joy of Pink Dot SG just days ago, this incident reminds us why Pride continues to matter. Pride is not just celebration—it is visibility, remembrance, and resilience. It is the ongoing work of building a world where no one fears violence for simply existing or loving openly.

Education, representation, and allyship all play a part. Every act of compassion and every voice that challenges prejudice helps move us closer to that world.

To the allies among us: thank you for standing with us. Your support matters more than ever.

In moments like these, we are reminded why we sing—because music has the power to hold space for hope, connection, and healing, even in the darkest times. A song written by one of them for our upcoming concert speaks of hope: that even in the darkness, there are people who see you, stand beside you, believe in you, and remind you that you are never alone. Today, those words feel especially poignant. We hope our friends know that they are surrounded by a global community standing with them in love, strength, and unwavering support.

To our dear friends: we stand with you. We send you our love, strength, and hopes for your recovery. May you continue to sing boldly and without fear.

Because hate may wound.

But love must always be our first thought.
And our last.

With love,
Sing! Men's Chorus
