A lady who happened to visit our exhibition during her travel turned out to be the wife of the second-generation owner of Kikuyaki Kamamoto Pottery in Kitakyushu, coincidentally my next destination. She kindly invited me to visit their workshop, and by chance, we met again at the entrance just as she had returned from an errand. I was warmly welcomed, shown around the studio, and treated to Japanese tea and wagashi served in their handmade chawan. Some meetings in life are simply fated.

The Shida no Kura 志田の蔵 is operated by Shida Toki Co., Ltd., 志田陶磁器（株), a ceramic wholesaler established since 1909. The building itself was originally a pottery warehouse built in the Taisho era. Inside, you'll find tableware from across Kyushu, including Arita, Imari, and Hasami ware.
