Happy National Day, Singapore 🇸🇬!

Our Samsui woman stilt walker was quite well received at Keat Hong plaza by seniors.

One of the seniors told us that she used to live at the ground floor of a shophouse at Tofu
street( 豆腐街）and the second level houses mainly Samsui women.

Tofu street is now no more and in its place is the Hock Hai building.

And we thought that Tofu street was a fictional street in Mediacorp’s 1996 TV drama series by the same name.

A project 9 months in the making.
From

1) Deciding on the artwork

2) Splitting up of the 625 cubes into over 267 different bags spread over 20 divisions in HPB for the staff to twist different parts of the artwork.

3) Checking for errors and Piecing everything together

Its a wrap. Thank you for encouraging Singaporeans to be fit and healthy for the past 25 years. Once again Happy 25th Birthday, HPB !

The size of this mural is barely a quarter compared to the one we did for Marina central, 3 years ago, but a lot more complicated as we have to split the artwork into 267 bags for the staff to do the twisting themselves.

This mural would be displayed at the lobby of the HPB building for quite some time to come.

A lovely write up about our work from Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth - MCCY

Trained under Cirque du Monde—the social circus programme created by the renowned Cirque du Soleil—Jay Che saw how circus arts can be used to help vulnerable youths build self-esteem and creativity.
