cont·act Contemporary Dance Festival returns with a refreshed name and identity for its 12th edition! The newly stylised name of “cont·act” – meaning “continued act” – encapsulates the Festival’s enduring commitment to contribute to the local contemporary dance landscape, and renewed vigour in celebrating dance as a bridging force of experiences and perspectives. Themed “Breathing Ground”, the 12t

h edition of the Festival conducts a space of respite, reflection, and reconnection with the self and the larger community. The Festival’s lineup of live performances, for live audiences, is a resistant note against the onslaught of digitalisation of performance in the past two years, yet a knowing ode and farewell to the making and presenting of dance as we know it. As we begin to reimagine dance and its possibilities in an endemic world, “Breathing Ground” – illustrating a heaving, breathing earth – suggests a burgeoning ripeness for the turn of a new chapter.

Experience the culmination of our 9-hour cumulative workshops through a three-part presentation series designed to spotlight different modes of movement inquiry.

We kick things off on 14 June with Voice/Text Exploration—a dedicated solo work-in-progress sharing by Lim Lenzo that dives deep into his personal creative process.

Then, on 28 June, the focus shifts to our participants through two separate showings. First, the afternoon begins with the structural transformations of Morphology, followed by the evening where the participants from Animated Pathways to showcase their collective efforts. Gather your friends and family, and join us for all three distinct chapters of studio research.

Beyond the usual 1.5/2-hour format, this year’s extended workshop series at cont·act Dance Festival offers participants the rare opportunity to dive deeper into the work, methods and inquiries of each artist across 9 hours of collective exploration. Culminating in intimate workshop presentations open to public audiences.

Through structured improvisation, physical metaphors and spontaneous vocal responses, Movement Artist Lim Lenzo invites participants to unlock vocal potential and express freely within a light-hearted yet deeply sensory environment.

ScRach MarcS returns to expand Animated Pathways into an intensive 9-hour journey that de-stabilises traditional movement pathways, navigating the complex flow between the body and its environment through tracing, threading and collective discovery.

Following her successful Morphology workshop at cont·act 2025, Zee Zunnur returns to illuminate the ways the body connects with its inner rhythms through guided movement explorations, groovy beats and connected embodiment rooted in soulful expression.

More than an introduction, these extended workshops create the necessary time and space for participants to move from learner to co-creator—engaging deeply with process, practice and transformation alongside the artists themselves.

cont·act Dance Festival wouldn’t be complete without workshops led by the dance artists of T.H.E Dance Company—offering a closer look into the practices, methodologies and physicalities that shape the company from within.

From Carmelita’s exploration of energy circulation, momentum shifts and spatial awareness, to Klievert’s rigorous merging of athleticism and artistry through grounded, high-intensity floorwork, these workshops invite participants to sharpen both technical control and physical sensitivity.

T.H.E’s newest dance artist Michail opens up popping as a layered musical conversation—navigating textures, rhythm and silence through improvisation and guided movement exploration—while Fiona introduces HollowBody, the signature methodology by Artistic Director Kuik Swee Boon that encourages deep physiological awareness and instinctive creativity.

More than workshops, these sessions offer participants the opportunity to experience the diverse movement languages, daily practices and artistic inquiries that continue to shape the evolving voices within T.H.E.

Familiar favorites ScRach MarcS ( ) return with Animated Pathways—now expanded into a 9-hour weekend intensive. In 2025, two hours just wasn’t enough, so this year Rachel and Marcus are taking you deeper into the mechanics of waves, using movement as a tool for a more conscious way of living. This journey spans three immersive sessions of tracing, threading, and collective flow, providing the time needed to truly navigate the balance between logic and instinct. The experience concludes with an intimate workshop presentation, giving your friends and family a chance to share in the fruits of your labor and witness the power of this shared physical inquiry.

Step into a dialogue between body and object, self and material. Led by performance artist Pat Toh (), this session is a journey into the "entanglements" of our physical selves and the world around us. The workshop begins with a focus on internal stretching and sensory awareness, building a foundation that allows subtle bodily sensations to surface. As the focus shifts toward the form and weight of an object, participants will translate these observations into embodied movement. This practice-based inquiry challenges how we perceive the "inanimate," offering a transformative way to experience human and non-human connectivity.
