The Fool Theatre 愚者剧场

The Fool Theatre 愚者剧场 is a non-profit, multilingual theatre organization.

The Fool, as presented in the literature of William Shakespeare, is a recurring character type. The Fool is an entertaining character who appears as a clever commoner, and often overcomes challenges by using his wits. In our modern context, a lot of people can create beautiful art through the various art forms. To help people overcome limitations and push the boundaries, the Fool acts as a guide for those who are not yet exposed to a wider range of perspectives, or those who would like to view things in different perspectives. The Fool Theatre’s name in Chinese “愚者剧场” is derived from the idiom
“大智若愚”, which means that “the fool is sophisticated yet appears simple”.

所谓大智若愚者，外表普通，内涵丰富，这才是真正的智者。这就是一种直接先认愚笨，再让大家发现我们的智慧的做法。

(Oars strike in rhythm. Bamboo leaves dance in the breeze.)

VOICEOVER:
A little rice dumpling sets sail,
Armed with courage,
Wrapped in tradition,
And carrying stories older than the river itself.

Today, we race not for victory alone—
But for community, remembrance,
And the joy of celebrating together.

ALL:
Happy Dragon Boat Festival from The Fool Theatre!
May your journey be smooth,
Your spirits be high,
And your dumplings plentiful.

(The dragon boat surges forward. Cheers follow downstream.)

A trick…
Or something delightfully in between.

Tonight, the rules loosen—
The script slips—
And even the Fool may fool you.

ALL:
Happy April Fool’s Day from The Fool Theatre.
Trust your eyes…
Or don’t.

After all—
The best stories always keep you guessing.

(Curtain twitches. Laughter escapes.)

Not just to celebrate,
But to remember what truly brings us home.

Your homes be filled,
And your stories continue in warmth and grace.

(Soft laughter. The glow remains.)

With stories ready to unfold.

Happy Lunar New Year from The Fool Theatre.
May prosperity find you,
May joy surround you,
May every step this year land in applause.

(Firecrackers burst. Cheers erupt.)

（花瓣轻落，小马踏步登场。）

旁白：

红包低语，
福气在帷幕后等候。

我们昂首向前——
怀着勇气，
带着笑声，
让故事再次绽放。
