A love letter to lovers, and a love letter to Singapore — Postcards From My Darling Love is now open at Objectifs. 💌

Ripple Root, the artist duo of Liquan Liew and Estella Ng, open their twelfth solo show with a reinterpretation of Hussein Haniff’s 1965 film Chinta Kasih Sayang. Working in paint and mixed media, they reimagine banal scenes from the film with a fresh twist on colour, romanticising familiar Singapore settings — Haw Par Villa, East Coast Park, Chinese Gardens, Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. Through the simplicity of circumstance and theme, the work opens up a world of relatable dialogue.

Still to come: Artist Talk on Sat 27 June, 2pm. Register via https://rippleroot-talk.peatix.com. The exhibition is on view until 28 June, free admission.

This Saturday, Saturdate gets a musical twist. We’re marking the occasion with a mixtape screening of hip-hop music videos from Malaysia and Singapore, an evening anchor to a full afternoon of sounds, print, and community.

In the spirit of the screening, we asked our Saturdate vendors and participating artists: what’s a music video you’d watch on repeat?

Catch them all at Saturdate x Now Showing on 20 June:

🎵 Part Time Book Club, 1pm – 4pm: A sharing and discovery of (art) books with Shu and Ming

🎸 freereina! Acoustic Performance, 4pm – 5pm: Stripped back from their usual shoegaze, electronic, and indie rock sound

🛍️ Sound and Print Fair, 1pm – 6pm: A small market for music lovers and stationery enthusiasts, featuring local creatives including Leitmotif Studio and OK Compact Disc

🎤 Causeway Hiphop Music Mixtape Screening, 7.30pm – 9.30pm: Paired with a live DJ set spanning regional and global south hip-hop

Applications for the 2026 edition are now open. Five selected Southeast Asian filmmakers will have the opportunity to work with mentors Aiko Masubuchi, co-founder of GINZAZA and Kenneth Dagatan, director of In My Mother’s Skin, the first Filipino film to premiere in Sundance’s Midnight section.

What a night of celebrating the 5th Anniversary of Chamber Music and Arts Singapore and the art of chamber music!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening night fundraiser on Thursday. The Art of Chamber Music is now open, bringing together photography by Clarence Aw and Brandon Koh alongside the world premiere of song without words — a cinematic documentary by NAC Young Artist Award 2024 winner Tan Si En and Momo Film Co. on the quiet, intimate world of chamber music-making.

The residency programmes are also underway. Join Scottish pianist Alasdair Beatson, British cellist Jamie Walton, and CMAS Founder Tang Tee Khoon as they explore the great chamber works of the French Romantic masters — Fauré, Chausson, Ravel — across a series of open rehearsals, concerts, and sharing recitals this June. The Women in Film & Photography residency isn't just about making work, it's also about how we gather.

An important part of our group residency is that artists take turns to conduct an activity for the group. Through this informal exchange, residents learn from one another and venture outside their usual practice. From woodblock printing and plant care to beach days and portrait potted plants, past residents have brought their own rituals and ways of being together into the programme.

The 2026 residency is now open to up to 3 Singapore-based women working in film or photography. If you're curious about what two months of dedicated creative time and community from 8 September to 7 November could look like, we'd love to hear from you.

🗓️ Apply now before 14 June 2026, 2359H SGT

Did you know Thomson Nature Park was once a Hainanese village? Today, it's one of Singapore's most atmospheric green spaces, and home to the critically endangered Raffles' Banded Langur.

On Saturday, 27 June, join photographer Tom White for a morning photowalk through this lush forest canopy from 9.30–11.30am. Try your hand at layered forest compositions and soft low-light moods, and discover how to see this corner of Singapore differently through your camera. The photowalk is beginner-friendly and open to all camera types, including smartphones.
