27 October – 8 December 2025

A seven-week journey into ritual, creativity, and transformation through movement. Participants will:
✨ Develop embodied practices for creative flow
✨ Explore the choreographic legacies of Deborah Hay, Anna Halprin, Gabrielle Roth, and Maija Hirvanen
✨ Work with the Eight Classic Centers of Motivation — archetypes and mythic energies that fuel performance
✨ Learn from guest lecturer Zarina Muhammad, who shares how myth and ritual can resist, reframe, and renew
Open to all levels. No prior experience required.

Wild Moves is a seven-week series of movement classes and workshops that invites participants to explore movement as a tool for creative expression and self-discovery. Open to all levels, the course offers a supportive environment to build your own toolkit of physical theatre and choreographic skills.
You’ll explore the methods of:
* Jonathan Burrows – repetition and reduction in choreography
* Mary Overlie – the Six Viewpoints
* Doris Humphrey – design, contrast, and motivation
* Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker – music, mathematics, and geometry

Includes a guest lecture by Dr. Stephanie Burridge on The Choreographic Notebook — a hands-on method for generating and refining movement ideas.

Guest Lecturer Bio
Dr. Stephanie Burridge trained at the Laban Centre (UK) and holds a BA in Anthropology/Art History and a PhD in Contemporary Dance from the London Contemporary Dance School in association with the University of Kent.
As Artistic Director of Canberra Dance Theatre (1978–2001), she commissioned leading choreographers, composers, and visual artists across Australia. She was awarded both the inaugural Choreographic Fellowship and the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Australian Choreographic Centre.

A leading authority on Asian dance, Stephanie has edited several major anthologies, including:
* Celebrating Dance in Asia and the Pacific
* The Routledge Companion to Dance in Asia and the Pacific
* Perspectives on Dance, Young People and Change
In 2022, she co-authored Routledge Choreography: The Basics.

This term, you’ll explore the work of visionary choreographers who have reshaped how we understand performance — including Doris Humphrey, who approached choreography as a process of shaping meaning through design, contrast, and motivation.
