[ hearth ] Where does a memory go once it begins to fade?

“Next Exit” by Alvin Tang unfolds through a series of video works and lightbox installations shaped by twilight landscapes, fragments of sound, and shifting recollections.

Across the exhibition, traces of past and imagined places surface and slip away. These fragments encourage viewers to move through the works slowly and experience how perception, memory, and sense of place are shaped by what is fleeting.

The show opens up as a constellation of moments, inviting viewers to piece together their own meanings along the way.

On view from 25 April – 3 May 2026 at Art Outreach. Drop by and see what surfaces.

HAVE YOU SEEN HER? ☂️

On 14 January 2026, our largest umbrella, affectionately known as “Big Mama”, was last seen at the office at 4.15pm. Since then, she has vanished without a trace.

We did it! We went from SAWVIVING to becoming SAWVIVORS 🏷️✨

Turns out the real challenge didn’t end with SAW (Singapore Art Week)… it was peeling that stubborn sticker off!

As SAW 2026 wraps, it also marks a bittersweet moment for us as we say goodbye to our current batch of interns, who have journeyed alongside the team through six intense (and occasionally chaotic) months. Thank you for the grit, good humour, and steady hands that kept everything moving behind the scenes. We truly could not have done it without you.

Singapore Art Week is a true showcase of all kinds of art and artists, from gallery exhibitions to unexpected encounters in public space.

At Gillman Barracks, artist Marcus Pang is adding to the festivities with a site specific, temporary intervention created through power washing. Starting right in front of Block 6 and stretching past Block 7 along Lock Road, his work traces the hidden systems beneath our feet. Flowing water from a fire hydrant, pipes connecting surrounding buildings, electrical wires, tree roots and the small creatures that quietly share this space with us.

Marcus is working on the piece right now, shaping it day by day. It should be completed over the next five days, weather permitting, so keep an eye out as it slowly reveals itself. Rain may slow things down, but that is all part of working with the outdoors.

Another reason to explore Gillman this Art Week. There is lots to discover!

As we wrap up another year at Art Outreach, our hearts are full. 💛

This year has been one of growth, community, and new opportunities. From exhibitions and collaborations to workshops and fundraising projects, we’ve been reminded time and again of how meaningful this work becomes when shared with others.

To every artist, collaborator, partner, supporter, volunteer and visitor — THANK YOU. Your generosity, trust, and participation make it possible for us go keep up the work we do.

Here’s to more art, more conversations, and more meaningful encounters in the year ahead! ✨
