What do you do with a void in the middle of a play café?

Turn it into the sky. ☁️

At .playandcafe in Jakarta, the client wanted to make use of an open interior void. Rather than place a conventional play structure below it, Playpoint saw a more exciting possibility: a bespoke net designed around the existing space and transformed the unused vertical space into an elevated play destination.

Suspended climbing nets invite children to explore at height, while an integrated net lounge creates a place to rest and socialise above the café floor. Its sky blue colour brings the interior concept to life and turns the installation into a striking centrepiece that also gives children an entirely different perspective of their surroundings.

The play experience continues outdoors, where a custom designed mound, tunnel, climbing elements, slide, swing and sensory play create variety within a compact footprint.

From unused vertical space to active outdoor play, every part of WanderNest Playcafe was designed to offer a new way to move, imagine and connect.

What happens when four Playpoint designers step outside the studio and into a global classroom?

Here are their reflections from two weeks at Politecnico di Milano, where they joined the summer school “Playgrounds & Playscapes: Redesigning the City Through the Lens of Play.”

• FROM MILAN TO ASIA - GETTING OUT OF THE STUDIO
Stepping beyond their usual routines opened up new ways of seeing play, space and the city.

• GLOBAL EXCHANGE
Exchanging perspectives with participants from around the world showed how different cultures and disciplines can unlock different possibilities.

• DESIGN THINKING
Play became more than equipment. It could also be a space, an atmosphere, a movement and an experience.

• BRINGING IT HOME
They returned to Asia not with ideas to simply replicate, but with new questions and a deeper understanding of how culture and context shape design.

At Playpoint, investing in our people means giving them opportunities to look outward, learn globally and bring that knowledge home.

Take a peek inside their Milan design journal, filled with playful discoveries and plenty of “what if?” moments!

We rewrote the old rhyme — this time, the shoe comes with a whole garden. 👟🌿

Our Super Garden at Tengah turns a nursery rhyme into a place to play — a giant shoe at its heart, and a garden of mushrooms, butterflies and flowers to grow into 🌸🍄🦋

A little woodland, in Woodlands 🌳🐿️

We worked with our Korean partner Ardion to bring this rooftop playground to life — a cluster of pitched-roof play houses, a winding road circuit, and climbing routes that reward a bit of nerve, all set against the towers of Woodlands.

Ardion designs and makes its own play equipment out of Seoul, with a real eye for the small storytelling details that make a space feel considered: a squirrel perched on a gable, ducklings lined up along a ridge, a tree canopy standing in for shade.

Up close, those touches turn a set of structures into somewhere children want to return to.

There’s a rhythm to how it comes together, too. Quiet corners inside the houses for younger ones, a road loop with ride-on cars for imaginative play, and taller climbing frames for the children who want to test themselves. Something for every age, in one shared space.

A patch of wild in the city. 🌿

In BSD City, where Indonesia’s urban future is taking shape, Playpoint has deliberately carved out a patch of nature at Wellington College Independent School Jakarta, Indonesia’s first British heritage school.

Built predominantly from sustainably sourced Lappset Lappset Group Nordic pine, the playground brings together treehouse adventures, shared play, cycling, sand and water within a setting of greenery and tropical shade.

Around half the main play area remains natural turf, with its existing contours retained as part of the experience. Here, nature is not simply the backdrop. It becomes part of how children climb, move, imagine, discover and learn to care for the world around them.

Swipe through to explore our latest and biggest project in Indonesia.

What if the familiar insects in our neighbourhood became larger than life spaces for play? 🦋🐝🌿

Located near Sungei Khatib, Yishun Boardwalk’s biophilic playscape draws inspiration from the ecology around it. Butterflies, orchids, grasshoppers, and the common Asian honeybee found in Singapore are transformed into immersive play sculptures, inviting children to encounter nature in a fun and unexpected way.

But the real design challenge was fitting this playful ecosystem into a compact site. How could we fit distinct play structures into a compact site while preserving safety clearances and creating enough variety for different ages?

The answer was to make the structures work together.

By connecting the butterfly and bee through the orchid tower and elevated climbing passages, the design creates continuous circulation, multiple ways to explore and more play possibilities within the available footprint.

Swipe to discover how space, circulation, materials, visibility and age responsive design were carefully resolved across the playscape.

As Singapore turns 61, we’re celebrating the stories, places and spirit that make our little red dot so special. 🇸🇬

This National Day, play takes to the skies, rolls onto land and sets sail at sea. ✈️🪖⚓
Across Singapore, playgrounds inspired by planes, tanks and battleships invite children to discover our island’s stories through play.

At Yung Loh Road, a plane has landed in the heartlands, all ready for young pilots to climb through its fuselage, explore its engines and take command of the cockpit.
Over in Choa Chu Kang, Keat Hong Quad transforms the area’s military heritage into an adventure of tanks and vertical play.

And at Sembawang Park, Playpoint’s first bespoke playground brings the area’s naval history to life aboard a custom-built playship that children can climb, explore and command from stern to bow.

From soaring through the skies to exploring on land and sailing the seas, each playground offers a playful connection to the places and histories that have shaped Singapore.

Happy 61st birthday, Singapore. Here’s to many more adventures ahead!
Majulah Singapura! 🇸🇬

Gold for SilverActive! 🏆

On Wednesday evening, SilverActive took home Gold at the inaugural Human-Centered Design Awards 2026, presented as part of the 5th Asian Conference on Ergonomics & Design.

Launched this year, the international award honours organisations and teams whose inclusive, empathetic and innovative designs put people first, respond to real human needs and create meaningful impact.

We are thrilled that SilverActive has received this recognition, affirming the people-first thinking at the heart of its design.

As Asia’s first community fitness system created for frail seniors, including wheelchair users, SilverActive makes exercise safer and more accessible through wheelchair-friendly stations, adjustable resistance and equipment calibrated for Asian physiques.

We are proud to see SilverActive recognised on the international stage and grateful to everyone who helped bring it to life. 💙

Sometimes, the best ideas come from the smallest designers. 🌱

Meet Jaya, a young girl who sent us a drawing of her dream playground. It wasn't filled with superheroes or castles. Instead, she imagined a place that would inspire other children to eat healthy.

🥦 Broccoli climbing tower
🍉 Watermelon see-saw
🍌 Banana slide
🍎 Pomegranate trampoline
🥝 Kiwi merry-go-round
🟣 Mangosteen bench

Her imagination reminds us that playgrounds can do more than entertain. They can spark curiosity, shape healthy habits and inspire brighter futures.

So we imagined what Jaya's playground could look like and brought her sketch to life.

Because at Playpoint, every great playscape begins with an idea worth listening to.

💚 Help us share Jaya's dream playground with more people by sharing this post.

💭 And we'd love to hear from you too. If you could design your dream playground, what would it include? Tell us in the comments and maybe your idea might inspire our next playscape!

Every great playground starts with a story.

For Burger King at Changi Airport Terminal 2, the story began with the iconic ingredients of a burger. Tomatoes, lettuce and burger patties inspired bespoke play structures and hand-painted safety surfacing, creating a cohesive environment where children can climb, explore and imagine.

This project demonstrates how strong storytelling and thoughtful design can turn a commercial space into a memorable destination.
