When was the last time you felt truly accomplished?

For me, it was finishing these two home commissions.

Five years ago, I was self-taught, figuring things out one painting at a time. If you had shown me these paintings back then, I don’t think I would’ve believed I I’m capable of that.

I kept telling myself, “You’ll figure it out along the way.”

Turns out, I did.

I go on walks looking for inspiration and one of my favourite parts is noticing the little details most people walk past.

Joo Chiat is known for its colourful shophouses. But if you slow down, you will find little things that make the neighborhood so memorable.

I was in Raffles Place yesterday to deliver an artwork and thought I’d take a walk around the CBD afterwards.

I ended up wandering through Boat Quay.

Usually, I’m walking a little faster to get out of the heat. But yesterday, I intentionally slowed down.

I started noticing details I’ve never seen.

It reminded me that Singapore isn’t boring. It’s just easy to miss the beautiful parts when we’re rushing past.

I think that’s one of my favourite parts of painting architecture. The more I look, the more I realise there’s always something I hadn’t noticed before.

Every design folds differently, so I end up refolding every tea towel by hand.

Over the weekend I explored Temasek Shophouse, which I’ve walked past but never been inside.

Can we just take a minute.. to admire this frame. The mural fits perfectly into the scene.

I am afraid of many things 😂

Had to tell Fernando (made a new friend) that his music was lovely. And he shared that there’s a community that plays every Sunday at Temasek Shophouse.

There’s a corner in front of babik violet that displays the original bricks, tiles and plasters that they uncovered during restoration 😍 I was geeking out.

Look at the bricks states where they were produced.

The gift shop has a section on books about Singapore. And I found this page, it’s the original YMCA building torned down in 1981 🥲

The garden is beautifully landscaped

And it’s my first time seeing a banana flower?? (I’m not sure but looks like it)
