This Lunar New Year season, SP Heart Workers have been spreading festive cheer in the community.

On 14 Jan, with Woodgrove Citizens' Consultative Committee, we packed and distributed New Year care packages to 300 underprivileged residents in Woodgrove constituency. Through SP's sponsorship of more than $40,000, the residents enjoyed new year goodies and hong bao with supermarket vouchers, and were hosted an 8-course dinner by Grassroots Adviser Ong Teng Koon and SP Group CEO Wong Kim Yin.

We also partnered North East Community Development Council on 18 Jan to organise a grocery shopping outing for 60 residents of Tampines Evergreen Circle Senior Activity Centre. The residents had fun interacting with their SP friends on the trip that ended with tea and sharing of energy efficiency and power safety tips.

"I recently returned from the University of Leeds in the UK after spending a year completing my Masters in Electrical Energy and Renewable Energy Systems, sponsored by SP. During the course, I learnt about Feldheim, a small town in Germany which produces more renewable energy than it consumes. This is possible because everyone in the town is responsible and accountable for the energy they use.

Sustainability is everyone's responsibility.

Now, as part of SP's Solar Taskforce, I design and implement rooftop PV systems which minimise the consumer's dependence on energy from fossil fuels. With emerging technologies and the experience I've gained, I'm excited to help consumers save energy and cost, improve quality of life and build a sustainable Singapore."
