SIFA has come to a close last weekend! ใ€Š ๐˜Š๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ธ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜œ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜›๐˜ช๐˜จ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ใ€‹met audiences exactly where it needed to in the festival village, holding the crowds in its grip.

Directed by Loy (), the work fused choreography, sound and light into a single ritual act โ€” a trio circling a displaced altar in trance-like coordination, grounded in ancestral teachings and carried by the atmospheric soundscapes by Guzz ().

Presented as part of AUTOMATA in the SIFA Late Nites programme, it offered something rare: a chance to sit with our own familial roots and sense of the spiritual, and what they mean amid the realities we live in now.

Two Weddings & A Raptureย is a multidisciplinary performance that employs distortive and operatic aesthetics to explore social technologies and rituals alongside renewed 20th century anxieties. A young woman recounts attending 2 different weddings that occur within the span of a week. She ruminates on a particularly curious incident โ€“ a destabilising speech made by a new mother-in-law. Meanwhile, several hotel employees engage in endlessly repetitive menial labour. A fog descends and a song begins.

Curated by Hothouse in collaboration with Big Duck, Excess Without Return is an audiovisual inquiry into the construction of personal and collective mythologies. Closing the stage for SIFA Late Nites 2026, the performance is a portal into the universes of three distinct world-buildersโ€”Houg, Hidemen, and goneMUNEโ€”to externalise their internal landscapes.

The experience is defined by the total expansion of these artistsโ€™ worlds through an immersive field of light and digital projection. Moving beyond the confines of a traditional stage, the performance space becomes an elastic canvas where the boundaries of the screen dissolve. Through a collaboration with NONFORM (visuals) and Alina Ling (lighting), the artists are enveloped in a synchronised environment of refractive light and vast, shifting projections that physically manifest their sonic narratives.





From the low-poly, vaporwave dreamscapes of the 90s to the gritty, medieval hip-hop of a fantasy fellowship and the mechanical beat of a cyborgโ€™s heart, Excess Without Return explores what happens when a world begins to overflow its boundaries.
